View Full Version : 69 Camaro- help with suspension inspections marks

I am currently refinishing all my suspecsion components on my 03E Norwood built 69 Z/28 Camaro. I need your expert opinions for proper color and placement of inspection paint on the following parts:
-disc brake spindles
-steering arms
-tie-rod ends
-idler arm
-pitman arm
-steering box
-drag link
-sway bar
etc, etc... i have many photos but some contricict others and others are inconclusive. I have a start but would apriciate your help. Any pics would be awesome. Thanks!

1. I have seen red, blue and even green and white splashes on the spindels.
2. None.
3. None.
4. None.
5. None.
6. I have seen a few boxes with some writing in white and a few with a yellow round sticker.
7. A white mark in the center all the time and some red on the ends some times.
8.None on the sway bar.

First off, just wanted to say "hi" since I'm a new guy here. Ive been on TC for a while, and check in here from time to time. Also went to SCR8. Great show. Anyway...
I'm not really sure there is a definite diagram/chart of the markings for these cars. Sure, there are marks that were supposed to go on all the cars.I've never come across two cars that had all the same marks. Myself, I only put back what I find, document with dig pics and diagrams. Sometimes, when car's markings are too overzealous, it looks a little silly to me. JMO.
Here are the spindles of one Im building now, just recreated what I found. Also, the pitman arm had a white stripe and the center link had yellow and white marks near the LH inner tie rod.

Just remember that the marks were put on at the assemble line at 50 jobs an hour. So don't make them to nice.
