I'm looking at purchasing 6 to 7 sets of date coded glass off of a company advertised in Hemmings. The company is called Auto City Classic(classicautoglass.com}.I'm pretty sure they are in Minnesota.Has anybody had experience with their product, packaging etc.I'm worried about the quality of their glass and arriving scatch-free and if necessary customer service(should something arrive wrong or damaged.I think their prices are excellant but prepaying for 6 to 7 sets and not knowing what to expect make me wonder. Thanks Steve

I got all 8 pieces of glass for my 68 Chevelle from Auto City . The date coding was nice, and it all came in a crate in perfect condition at a fair price.

Chad and I have both used them and I am not aware of any issues. Chad has used them several times and as far as I know, he has been very happy. I too was very satisfied with my glass.

I like them too.
I know this is not practical for you being in Canada, but I see them at Swapmeets around here in the summer, and they mostly are selling Bumpers,Gastanks, and Window glass, etc. to local customers who have called ahead, then meet them at the swapmeet to pick up these heavy items & take home themselves. Both Auto City Classics & their customers prefer it,as they both save money, time & shipping mishaps.
I talked to them at length at Jefferson Wisc. after buying a GasTank from them last year, and was amazed how many customers did exactly this during my conversation with Terry.
Good Guys. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Same experience. I bought dated windshield and back glass. Widh I hav bought window and quarter glass, too. I thought my side glass looked pretty good, until I finished the resto. Now I think they suck. I'm planning to buy them from Auto City.

Courteous, great glass, excellent packaging - I like Auto City. I told them specifically where (inside or outside) and what characters and size for the date coding. They did it very well. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I bought both windshields from them, the front was an NOS piece. They put date codes on as well, and delivered them to Carlisle where I picked them up. Excellent product, very nice to deal with.

How did you contact them? The address above only gives links to local installers. Looking for glass for my 70 Z.

Thanks Dave

Auto City is a first class operation. How about this story: I called them for a windshield for my '67 Comet 427 sedan in clear, they said tough item but they would search for one and it would be expensive, like $350-$375. I said OK, that would be fine. They called back 3 days later, they had located one but they were mistaken on the price, $275 would work. How about that honesty ? Packed perfectly, shipped super fast, perfect windshield. They have me forever. As for OEM, life is to short to try and do business with these folks, always was very frustrating.

Same here, they quoted me around $500-$600 for a clear windshield for my Yenko. They found one, and charged me half that! I will always go to them http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

I actually figured it out. It is March 1970.

I used them for a complete set of 1970 Tinted Nova Glass. I was not in a hurry. I ordered it in Charlotte. Later the order got lost. Talked to them a Carlise and they quickly re did the order. Great quality except you need to be exact on the date codes. I.e viewed from inside or outside solid lettering or dashed, etc.

Being one of those picky guys the glass codes were not quite right on some of the glass. Not everyone has pictures of dozens of glass codes like I do so most would never know. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

If you do not know the date code they can set you up.

Over all a great deal.

I used these guys as they were the original suppliers for the GM factory. They have the original templates for dating your windows.
