just saw a posting for another recreation. www.cheetahracecars.net (http://www.cheetahracecars.net)
I always lusted after these cars as a kid. I saw one in person for the first time at the Monterey Historics...the car looked, sounded and ran like it was pissed off! I hope the guys that are headed to Scottsdale can make it by the Russo and Steele auction to get a peak and maybe a few pix?

Jeff,

I've been on that site quite alot, always loved the Cheetahs.
Saw one go off either last yr or the yr before in Monterey for only like $75K which I thought was an absolute steal, regardless of condition.

Saw the one racing at the Historics last year.Nice people too.

Would love to have the re-creation! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

I knew someone in Az. was reproducing them a few years back, I dont recall the tie in with Bill Thomas like in the current website. I know with the lightweight and only a 90 inch wheelbase these cars have got to be a handfull at speed! Imagine coming up the front straight at Laguna Seca at 140+ mph and getting air under that front end? Talk about shrinkage!

--------Guy in AZ is Bob Auxier. Im wondering if he sold all his molds and jigs to these people or if they reinvented the wheel. As I recall Bob had a very good connection with Bill Thomas and the family. Bob is a very talented fiberglass guy. If you go on E-bay right now you will probably find a complete 36gal. tank set-up for 63/67 Vettes, and I believe he did the whole project..........Bill S

ive considered building one but always wondered if the costs could be recouped being a kit car if i ever decided to sell it, so a real car with a real vin may be my answer.
