I'd like to know why it will take 3 years from the time they show the completed concept car to actually produce the car... back in the 50's and 60's everything was drawn/designed by hand and completely new cars came out nearly every year...now computers do all the work and it takes 3 years to bring a concept to production? Does GM even HAVE 3 years? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

By the look of that design I'd give them double the time.

Considering the seemingly never-ending popularity of the Camaro, that's a pretty poor offering. I see a hint of the '69 styling.....................in the shape of the rear window! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

Maybe GM should farm out the design of the upcoming Camaro to Daimler-Chrysler...those boys over there seem to know how to do it the way it should be...

LOL! The first time I would cheer outsourcing. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Or even Ford. Hurts to admit it but they hit a grand slam with the new Mustang!

Guys if you look at that old pic you will see it is 2 styling excersizes and NOT the final design....give them a break..Joe....55-6-7 were the same platform...58 was all new...59-60 were the same...61-64 were the same, 65 all new. They don't pop them out every year except cosmetic stuff...
I would hate to be a part of GM's design staff right now, as it is the bottom of the 9th, 2 outs and down by a couple. A whiff now and game over.

I think that's the new Cadillac rather than a Camaro concept. I saw one of the new Cadillacs on the street today and it is a dead ringer for the alleged Camaro concept car. Even GM couldn't screw up the Camaro that bad? Could they???

There are more differences between just the exterior side trim on a 59 and 60 Chevy than there were differences in the entire Camaro platform from 1993-2002....and now its taken 4 years to come up with a new concept, and another 3 years to actually (maybe) build a few of em. Sorry if I'm unimpressed. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

WHy didn't they go with Kris Hortons design...is it because he's "just a kid"...and they didn't want to be shown up?
If that's all GM has to offer...Bye bye...it was nice knowing ya... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

I like what GM has better than Horton's.
Chevy just out sold Ford for the first time in 19 years.
It came down to Trailblazer beating Explorer sales.

I agree with you Bob http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
That looks like a clay "mock-up" and they may have made changes since they did that.
BTW...There should be 2 Camaro concept cars at the show. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I like something about this style, but dont think the side glass fits with the front and rear glass at this point. I've seen Horton's rendition, and there is something of his that doesn't suit me either.
I see a bit of the new C6 in the rear of this design, and would also have to admit that the guys at Chrysler's design team seem to have the upper hand right now. There's just something about those clean old (straight) lines that Chrysler has captured in the NOS ("new old style") Challenger.
I hope someone at GM is getting this, because there is room for improvement on this design. Maybe they could straighten up some of those lines along the rear quarters and take the cartoon steroid effect out of that big & tall rear end. Bring it down low like the sleek but bold challenger rear quarter would nail it down for me and send me into order a new build before they could count their pennies. That and maybe just a hint of the old Rallysport would make me wet. Failing that, they will see another old die hard line up to get a new Challenger come release date.
Man.....saying that kinda hurts http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Don't forget concepts are just that concepts!!, most of the time the final design is different or based on.

GM realy need to think about the options available on the car no matter what it looks like. the way they bundle their options sucks, one of the things that killed the third gen, many buyers dont want a luxury car when buying a camaro. i want windows that crank, non power leather seats, i dont need my butt heated for me, abs delete, if possible, and maybe just skip the sound deadener too. the 1LE was the closest thing they came to a stripped down performance model. i want a z06 style camaro, dont need carbon fiber parts though, jsut skip all the crap that make them acceptable to mom drivers without me having to take the car apart to remove it all.
