I was working in the yard the other day and when I came back in that evening I realized that I had come in contact with poison oak or ivy. I have had problems with this crap many times in the past ever since I bought this house that is in a wooded neighborhood.

I really hate the feel of that itch and my right hand was itching in more that one area. I went in and washed it good but to no avail. It was getting worse. About to drive me crazy as usual. It was gettting close to dinner time so I went in to take my shower and while I was in the shower I washed it about two or three more times and it still was bothering me.

About that time I spotted a spray bottle of Tilex that I had not put away since I had a minor outbreak of mold. So out of desperation to stop the itch I sprayed my hand with it. I let it soak for about a min and it didn't hurt so I did it two more times for the same time period. It stopped the itch completely. As of today it has not come back.

Man I wish I had found out about that stuff working like that years ago. The only thing I can see negative is my right hand is a little whiter than the left. It takes a bit of water to wash off as it puts sort a heavy film on your hand that is hard to rinse off.

After the first time it felt better and didn't seem to itch anymore so I did it some more just to be sure it worked.

Not sure if anyone else has ever found a way to stop the itch but thought I might share this with you guys.

The Tilex was in a dark blue spray bottle and was called "Tilex Mildew root penetrator & remover" with foaming action. Said it was a new product. I know it dam sure keeps this old house bathroom looking good and now I have found another use for it.

I'll bet if you read the label you'll find it says something about not spraying the stuff all over yourself....hands or otherwise.. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Larry,
Write the mfgr. and tell them what you discovered. They
might just send you a lifetime supply of the stuff. My
dad did that with an all natural brand of peanut butter
back in the 1970's. Out of appreciation, the company sent
him 2 cases of the stuff. We got sick of it.......... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

If you break out in a rash from eating too much peanut butter, spray the Tilex on it!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Hey Larry...what do you think would happen if you just sprayed the tilex diectly on the poison oak/ivy? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif

On a side note...Sorry this is so long...but it kinda fits...we had this huge spider at our front door... better known as a camel spider, false scorpion, etc.

These things can RUN as fast as 15mph...and the larger ones like the one above our front door have been known to eat small birds http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif Anyways...this thing scared the $hit out of me...so I ran to the garage to get the insecticide...I sprayed the spider with it and it dropped like a rock.

Because I have a curious nature (And didn't know what the heck I had just killed) I took a picture of it and sent it to the ASU science department...they identified it and told me what it was...and NOT to kill it (Damn) as they eat REAL scorpions also...The professor asked me if it was still alive and when I told him that I killed it...he asked me how...as they are pretty impervious to insecticides...he wanted the name of the bug killer I used. I ran to the garage while he was on the phone...and to my surprise...I had grabbed the weed killer spray by accident http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

I guess it works on camel spiders, too! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Here's what one looks like...yuk http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Formaldehyde...if you've scratched it very much or broken the surface you'll think you've been set on fire, but the stuff will dry it out and stop it in it's tracks. But if anyone asks, you just found the stuff on the sidewalk...

I am scared to death of spiders, but I'd still LOVE to live there! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif It sure beats SNOW, ICE, and not being able to drive your car for 6 months out of the year!

Yea, but think about how many additional miles your car(s)
would have on them if you could drive them all the time. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I think the original Tilex was what may have turned Peter Parker into Spiderman, how's things going now Pantera, any extra arms yet....Spidey??

I had the Ivy many times over the years....nasty stuff. . No matter what feels good that you can put on it, the best thing to do is keep it dry w/ nothing on it and try to forget it. . And if you can, keep away from the meds they give you....I've heard it's made from Whale's sperm, seriously also can cause arthritis?

And Pantera, I never noticed you had a Frisbee....who's do you have....too cool!!!

I have the sister car to Horst Kroll in Canada. His was the Chipwitch car. It is a Lola T-400 ex Ongais chassis. I got it with T-333 bodywork. Bought the Frisbee bodywork from Norwood in Dallas. Had to have a tail section made by Jer Pavis in Phoenix, who screwed me around on the shipping and it cost me as much to ship as the part.

It has never been on the track yet. Went broke trying to get it ready for the Dallas GP. The mechanic I hired was just too slow. It needs paint, Plumbing, and wiring and it will be finished. It will have to wait till I get the BM cars restored. But someday I have promiced myself that I will take out for a few laps.

Here is a pic of it.
