I'm doing more research but there may be a policy change on trim tags.

The guy listing the new ones must be Bill from Chevycraft, who sold in Hemmings for years. The area code is Lubbock, TX.

I think its a long shot that ebay will ban these since there's no VIN. You could try to make the argument that one of these tags will allow someone to create a Z/28 from a plain-jane Camaro and commit fraud. However, you can make that same argument about fender emblems. All this fake stuff is really a sad thing for the hobby.

Why GM allows this is beyond me. You can't reproduce ANYTHING with a GM trademark on it without a license, yet these trim tags are stamped General Motors Corp. Legal guys, let GM know what is going on. The only new trim tag I would be able to tolerate would have "DUPLICATE" or "REPRODUCTION" stamped on it.

Here is what I received from ebay today.
--------------------------------------------

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to write eBay with your concerns. I'm
happy to help you further. I understand you have a question on if our
policy has changed on TRIM tags.

Our current stand on TRIM tags is to treat them as VIN tags, there for
they are still banned. I apologize for any confusion. I appreciate the
item numbers that you have supplied.

I have reviewed all of them and taken the appropriate actions against
the listings as well as the members.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation, and wish you luck with
your future eBay transactions.

Regards,

Tatum

That actually was not my intention. My intention was to determine if there was a policy change.

Don't bet the ranch on it. Someone will always filter thru EBay. Bogus trim tags, titles, POPs and window stickers have been around for years.
