I just picked up a set of Mickey Thompson finned aluminum valve covers. They are not as nice as I had hoped they would be. They have been painted silver. Is there a way to restore these? Can they be media blasted and get the correct look? Any suggestions?
Thanks, James

James I used plastic media to remove the paint...and painted them the way SS427 shows them...CLEAM plastic media will make them look nice if you are going to leave them natural if the underlying metal is still nice

I think they were available in black like the ones you pictured and in a milled aluminum finish. I want the aluminum finish like the ones pictured here.

Caleb Arone has one perfect set on his 1969 COPO Camaro.
Maybe Brian Henderson can shed a little light on the process?

Yes, they are.... It was done by accident.... We sent them to our chrome plater just to be polished. He misunderstood what we wanted, and thet ended up chrome plated. We were really pi$$ed, but when we put them on the car, they really looked good.
