Have you considered using Buick Skylark door panels?
It was a possibility in 1968 on some Chevelles,do to a supply problem.
What plant & time frame was yours built?

mr70 , i wouldnt even know where to begin to find out where and when it was built. drag racing was in my blood and never paid any attention to the dana copo gibb nickey yenko cars (even though my father is the original owner of chris shorts yenko chevelle ) so i cant tell you, you would have to tell me. what kind of info do you need to find that kind of stuff out? and where would i look these numbers up at ? i went to my first scr 2 years ago and now im addicted to this site and will be at every scr from now on!!! never really realized how special these cars are. so they used skylark panels and put the chevelle trim on them ? very interesting. amazing how much info and knowledge is to be gained on this site. jeff

I don't believe that any of the 2 door sedan 300 series door panels are reproduced. With the '69 300 Deluxe SS396 Chevelles it's a real problem. If your originals are not in good shape, then you are in for a very long search to fine something acceptable. You'll just have to search the web, wrecking yards and magazines. In the last 8 years I haven't seen any for sale in any condition. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Jeff,
Welcome to the site. Hopefully we can help with any questions you may have as there is a mountain of information on the site. It was nice sitting at the banquet with you and your dad at SCR this year. Lots of neat stories.

thanks guys for your help. i bought this car to make it a racecar and had no interior at all, thinking that someone makes them.i talked to the guys at ausleys and they said that the coupe panels would work so i bought them.not even close !! i also talked to a guy from bluegrass chevelle parts and he told me to find a metal top rail and weld a triangular piece on the part that is near the window frame and have someone re cover them. but i cant even find anyone with metal top rails. i dont want to have to make sheet metal door panels because i dont like that look.the car turned out too nice to do that. THANKS again everyone and ill keep hunting.

Jeff,
A friend of mine who also frequents this site (amuseme) knows of a '68 300 deluxe car in our area. I've seen the car but it's been a few years. One of the last conversations I had with Jeff (amuseme) was centered around this car and the fact that he might buy it. I'll check with him or ask him to reply to your posting here. Maybe we can come up with something.
Aside from that, try asking Don Lightfoot. Maybe he'll sell you the panels from his old and worn out '69 Deluxe! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif (Sorry Don; you know I'm just kidding!)
BTW, I too enjoyed meeting you and Nick at the reunion last year. Again, same table! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Jeff, Dennis let me know about your problem. I'll check on the '68 300 and see what the deal is. I'd put it on the back burner as I've got a shop full right now. If it's available (for parts or whole) I'll let you know, I'll likely be a right good while getting to it, so someone else may as well get some good out of it. Jeff.

If you find panels in rough shape, there is a place in the Portland, OR area that custom fabs door panels for specialty models like Heavy Chevy Chevelles. I have been told their work is first rate, and that as long as you have an original for them to work from, they can reproduce it, dielectric seams and all. Name of the place is SMS:

SMS made the ones for my 68 300 Chevelle so I know they have a pattern now. They are a little pricey but they look good. 300 Deluxe are different.

I'll add a little something here which may or may not be worthwhile in the long run.
Last year I heard a rumour that PUI Interiors had made a reproduction door panel for the 69 Two Door Posts. I was certainly excited and emailed them accordingly and got an emphatic "yes". This was getting just too good to be true so I emailed them again and asked for a picture of one. They did make one, but they used the Malibu Trim. DUH! Why reproduce something that was never used or correct in the first place. Probably just too expensive to come up with new 300 Deluxe trim so they used what was already in place. I've been looking for over five years for another 69 set with no luck. Came across an ad on Team Chevelle a couple of years ago but I ended up being about six hours late.
Anyway, might be worth a call to PUI about 68's. Maybe something can be worked out with their mold, or whatever, and then "SMS Auto Fabrics" or "Just Dashes" can take it from there. Hope you can get something.
