Hate to throw a wet blanket on this deal, but it can't be a JL8 car with that high of a VIN. JL8 was discontiuned late May or early June. My vin is 671122 and is an 08A car (first week of August), meaning your 68xxxx car is even later.

What is the build date on the cowl J-L8 cars were only made for a few months. Does it have the original rear with the disc brakes? Are the original dual piston front calipers still there? It will not have the valve on the sub frame on the drivers side. So it will have a 1 piece brake line from front to rear. And under the Master Cylinder it will only have the distribution block no extra round valve. If you could please post pictures of the cowl tag as I have never seen on with J-L8 stamped on it.
If you don't want to spend what they are asking for it I would be very interested in it and would pay a finders fee.

As far as value...done J-L8's who knows now and after Barrett Jackson it will change anyhow.

If you have any other questions about the car feel free to ask as I am restoring 2 right now and may be able to help you decide if it's real. Good luck.
Rich.

Like Lynn said, that VIN is too late in the year to be a real JL8 car. Double check the VIN just to make sure. But post a picture of the trim tag showing the "JL8". And if you can get a picture of the stamping on the rear post that as well. What is the rear end stamping? It could be a service package rear which is still pretty cool.

With JL8-d80 on the trim tag I would expect it to be a repo trim tag. There have been stranger things though. Try to get us a pic of thet trim tag.

Would like to see the rear end stamp as well since I have a couple JL8 rears recorded as being sold away from their cars http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Like the other have said as well, get the VIN and a pic of the Cowl Tag

Tag looks fine for a real Z28 but the car is too late to be a real JL8. What's the condition of the car? Original #'s matching motor or not? What's the code on the rear? Then we can help determine a price range.

without going out and looking at mine...that pic of the frame is that hose connection for a drum brake setup?

Rick H
01-15-2006, 03:35 AM
That is a totally wrong brake setup. Has a late model proportioning valve and the master cylinder is wrong as well. Nice shiny new power booster on a car that needs a total restoration???

Got a bad feeling about this car.

I don't even see dl80 on the tag. Ok Joey how much are you looking to get for this uncompleted '69 that needs a major resto ?

I think we have been BAMBOOZLED. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Looks like late model Vortec heads (notice the center bolt valve covers?)...looks like someone stopped in the middle of a pro-touring/g-machine project...would explain the rear disc setup...

Correction... definitely added. Look at the 7's on the rest of the tag. The "legs" are all curved. Now look at the "X77". The legs look straight to me. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

Fake, probably an X11D80 that was changed...if it was an X44D80 that was changed they are really idiots...

I was trying to point out that the seven in 718 does not match any of the sevens on the tag. You can just barely make out a very slight curve in that seven. -either that or it's dirt. Yes, the sevens in X77 look very straight and square and do not match the 1st line sevens. So, who knows what this car is/was with that guy changing tags.
