hey guys im new to the site, i have visited a few times before and really liked it.i recently got my hands on a 70 nova, after the tear down i started noticing a few things. i got the car so cheap i paid no attention to details ($300) the car came with no motor or trans, the car is covered in bondo and primer. the details i have gotten so far is the car is a 4speed car, clutch pedal still attached, the shifter hole is more in the center then to the side. it had a bench seat, black interior, teardrop dome light, chrome around the pedals, cigarette lighter, and switch for the dome light in driverside door jamb. it has the larger sway bar on front.the original rearend is gone(damnit) i decoded it. it now has a late model 10 bolt. the orginal dash cluster is gone, this one has the white numbering. it is a 350 car from what i can tell as per the tag numbers.the biggest oddity i found is the original color is hugger orange, from what i can tell this is almost unheard of on 70 novas. from all the things that was stolen off the car, i think i might have walked on a rare car, im not sure. what im wondering is is there any service available to track down previous owners to get the history of the car, i have a good title but it only has me and the previous owner on it, he got the car in the condition it is in.my plans right now are to back half the car and prostreet it, after my findings it is on hold till i get more info. any help you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated. thanks Larry

Check your VIN here (http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/75999/an/0/page/0#75999) and post a picture of the trim tag or provide the information.

Check for the dual exhaust plate on the driver's side frame rail, a single fuel line, front disc brakes, and brackets above the muffler for a rear sway bar. Might be an SS, or a deuce, or ?? If it's orange, well.... no biggie - it's orange http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

it had dual exhaust. there is a single fuel line, i think somebody started a disc break conversion, but im not really sure the car has both types of breaks with it.neither was installed. a brake booster also was with the car. as also with power steering it has both but neither one was installed. it has an ss hood, but i dont believe it is the original. the vin didnt checkout with your super car registry, it is actually manufactured a little earlier then the orange cars.... 114270w367744 is my vin, but her is another odd think body tag is.first line...st70 11427wrn366779 bdy... shouldnt the numbers be the same? im starting to get lost, maybe i just come across someone in the middle of a conversion, ill post a pic of the body tag as soon as i find my camera, within the hour ill post

It's not a deuce. Those numbers should not match, and the body number is not within one of the ranges of Deuce production.
It does sound like an SS, worth buying for the right price. Probably a 731 interior, build date is probably late June.
