That won the LS6 Convertible and bid 4 million on the Futurliner, and just now won the Elvis Lincoln Limo?

He looks familiar but I just can't place where I know him from. Anyone know? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

Now he bought the 29 P/U that Eric Perat and his crew at Pinkys Rod Shop in Colorado built for $190k, which was a steal!

Not exactly my style but a real work of art in the Street Rod world. Pinkys Rod Show has built several Ridler award winners and some of the neatest rods of the past 10 or so years. Eric is a real neat and down to earth guy too.

I thought that it would draw a lot more but maybe it didn't due to the fact that it has basically won nearly every award and it has already been in nearly every rod magazine. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I think his name is Ken Shupee from South Carolina http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

There seems to be no pattern to his buying...he is buying a wide variety of vehicles; Chevy/Fords/Street Rod etc

What a neat collection he is amassing (or adding to!)

He's got an extra $4 million burning a hole in his pocket since he missed out on the Futurliner.

he felt they were running the bid did you notice how it went from 4.5 mill to 4 mill to him and he then didnt bid again and the next item the elvis car he ran up to see that they had a real bidder

He was probably getting in that other bidder's face to see if he was a shill bidder or the real deal. I wonder how many fake/shill bidders there are at B-J? Friends and/or family of sellers, etc.? I've run into that on eBay when buying car parts.

lol...my friend Ron Pratte ended up with the bus...he's 5'7" standing up, or 7'11" sitting on his wallet. I think his bidder number was #0001

Yeah, I noticed that the big guy was towering over your friend. That's probably why he jumped up on stage---so he could physically intimidate the smaller guy. I also noticed that your friend wound up with several awesome cars, including that white T-bolt.

Ron lives in Phoenix now...so buyer's commissions and AZ sales tax had to be approaching $650,000 combined...yeowch! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Steve, does he have a museum or just a private collection? The Futurliner seems like an odd buy for a musclecar collector. They were saying the seller was hoping for $600K.

Funny you should ask...he started his private car collection at B-J 2003 by buying 52 cars during that auction, then sold his construction business here last year and moved back to Phoenix. He recently built a nice exhibit hall/building in metro Phoenix with museum intents. His collector interests are diverse, with everything from old fire trucks to muscle cars to new exotics, so it should be interesting when he's done. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

I really felt glad for the guy who was hoping to get 600k for the Futurama bus------------What a feeling it must have been for him to see the bidding take off like that-------I was even clapping in front of my TV......

Bill Weiman (sp) 's buddy. Charlie may have more scoop./

And for running up the bid on the Futureliner. I was sitting in the front row, next to me were the sellers and 6 seats down was the guy with shaved head. He played on a lot of cars. and bought a few nice ones.
Bidding was definately a cluster F**k on that piece.

Steve, that is really cool that Ron is going to have his collection in one place for others to see. Turn it in to a business and let the IRS help, not that he needs it!! I would like to see it.

BTW I still think your the man even though you are rooting against the Steelers, LOL. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

I just picked up the March 06 issue of Muscle Car Enthusiast.
In it they showcase a St. Petersburg,Fla. car collector named Todd Werner.
He has acquired more then 60 various cars in 3 years with room to spare. One of them,a 1966 Hemi satelite convert.,he states he will sell at Scottsdale come January.
He states he is seeking more specific cars for his collection.
He mentions he favors Nostalgic Race cars,in particular Mopars & Chevies,w/a slant on Chevelles.
Shave off the Gotee and to me this looks like the same Bidder who won the Ray Allen/Briggs/Truppi-Kling LS-6 Convert.,among others @ B-J Scottsdale.

Bruce, it was nice to finally meet you as well. i wish we would have had more time. It gets pretty busy out there, but always have time for that breakfast and those cars. I have been fortunate to have been friends with him while he has built one of the best collections in the world.
Next time i am going to try to hook up with more enthusiasts from this site.
