it has been interesting to follow the thread dealing with the original owner yenko nova. the owners seemed to me to be very happy over the years with " their baby". i wonder do we get distracted by too much of a good thing? is our enjoyment of the hobby diluted or out of balance when our time is spent wondering how much we will make on the next car we turn over for a profit, instead of driving and enjoying the sweet pleasure of going back for a moment in time? " a moment in time when muscle cars ruled and life seemed more simple? how many cars are enough? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

how many cars are enough?
That is wife's favorite question. I never can seem to come up with an adequate response. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
Did you see Don Fezells' collection featured in the March 06 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines?
I've never met the man,but he sounds like a real true enthusiast with interests in so many different things. Now that's a collection I would like to have.
Proof you can never have enough!

I've thought about that many times. I think about the particular cars I'd love to own and then I realize if I actually had them I would never be able to enjoy them all. So I just try to enjoy the 1 or 2 cars I have. It's a shame that the prices have gone through the roof taking the hobby out of reach for a lot of people, but then housing prices have done the same thing. I applaud the people that can put together these impressive collections for others to enjoy. Just think, 30 years from now there will be a group of people sitting around staring at a collection of Accuras, Toyotas and Mitsubishis thinking the same thing. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif

One is more than enough for me, and I can barely afford that the way prices are going anymore. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Boy have I heard that so many times. It doesn't matter how big you build them they are never big enough!
I have always advised anyone building something that whatever they are planning to double it or they will wish they had just as soon as it is built. The funny thing about walking around the outline of a planned building. it will seem so huge when you are walking it out. But when you get a few shelves and work tables and a car or two in there, then it will be small real quick. Having enough space to open a door while you work on a car can take up room so fast.
I know that I want to build one 150 x 60 and I am sure that I will find it full in just a few years.

I built what I thought was my dream garage 8 years ago. 1700 square feet layed out to hold 6 cars. We now park one car and a Kubota in there. The rest is my kids motorcycle crap, old furniture, Pool table, shuffleboard table and just stuff. Then I build my dream shop. Traded my 70 Hemi Cuda, Lemon Twist yellow frame off 4 speed car at $44K and money for a used 80'x100' shop. I have 4 project cars, a car trailer, kids boat, old steam engine, old tractor, Kubota tractor, tons of old furniture, car hoist and a bunch of crap in there. Even put a second floor mezzanine in that is 1500 square feet. It looks like crap in there with all the crap. Then I do the new car barn at 5000 square feet and it is filling up fast. Whatever you build it will fill up fast. Then it will start to piss you off.

Same here. But, I can imagine having five to ten cars and having my hads full keeping them running and enjoying them. Don't get me wrong, I'd find a way to do it, but 10 cars max would be fine with me. Don't ask me which 10 I'd want!

My 3-car garage suffers from the same crappy buildup. I have to go out there about once a month and spend a day throwing out crap, cutting up cardboard boxes for the recycling bin, and just generally keeping it clean and reasonably organized out there. One thing I will not do is stack crap on my Camaro! That is just blasphemous. I've begun selling my old model car and airplane kit collection on eBay and it's been opening up a lot of space in the garage. Feels great to get rid of crap plus make a little $$$ at the same time.

Charlie, you can not fight the number one natural law of the car world. "Stuff/junk will accumulate to fill any given space". Our garage and barn are both full upstairs and down. I gave up fighting it about 40 years ago. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

It's easy to build a big enough garage/building for your cars/crap...just spend every cent you have on the building, that way you won't have any money to accumulate more stuff...granted, I think some guys would end up with a garage the size of a stadium, but then you have a goal to shoot for - try and fill'er up... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Hey Charley...wanna get rid of any old furniture http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

When I had 4 collector cars,I never could seem to get them all running at the same time. Now that I've sold one,it's still a huge chore just to keep all of them maintained...let alone drive them all on a regular basis.Weird stuff seems to happen when you don't drive these cars regularly.
I cannot imagine how some guys do it with multipule (more than 4) cars...I just don't.
