well about almost 3 years ago i injured my r/shoulder at work and i've not been able to work since then http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif . i have a very severe injury to the brachial plexus nerve that has caused pararlysis in the r/shoulder upper arm area. i had surgery on my shoulder last year that only gave me 3 months of relief and the pain came back.couple of days ago i went to see another neurosurgeon for a consult and he told me that the injury was so severe to the nerve that the nerves from my brain to the effected area have shut off causing muscle wasting or paralysis. the doctor has also started me on neurotin to stop the nasty nerve pain i'm experiencing. and i'll be going to a specialized therapy for stroke patients.he feels this is the type of therapy to refire the affected nerves. what really bums me out is the doctor said the surgery i had last year was not needed and no surgery right now will help this problem i've got.he also mentioned i'll probably will never regain use of my r/shoulder upper arm http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif. what really bites is not able to work on my car and see it just sit there. there's so much i want to do to it but can't.

you got that right!!! and dont be afraid to seek another opinion or two, I am also coming off of three years of severe back/kneck pain I found the right doctor and also found the right therapy for me, Finally after two years!!..I feal almost 100% now, I know how you feal with major pain everyday...we are all different maybee this new stroke outlet is the place, also the people who fixed me are both 25'ish fresh from school and really know there stuff, not some guy that has not kept up on his schooling...find the best pro sport doc in your area and talk with him, my main guy consults for the Hawks up here. I think you can be fixed you just need the right person to work on you, my case was very unique for some reason and both people learned a lot from injury and working to correct it.
take care, Bud.

Best of luck with appointments. I know the uneasy feeling. Suffering from migraine headaches pretty much my entire life, I make a habit of seeking assistance from neurologists and cardiologist. My health lies in their hands. Luckily I have found professionals who are trustworthy and brilliant in their fields. The right doctors take years to find. Again, Good luck!

besides the pain it's the lack of motor skills i'm noticing more of lately. i have to really think alot just to make sure my r/arm moves i have alot of problems with finger dexterity.one of the tests the doctor did was having my eyes closed and he would stick my fingers with either one or two pins randomly. i couldn't tell at all which finger or how many times he did this.this pain has been relentless with sometimes pain strong enough to make me get upset.another issue was when i had the surgey done last year it damaged more of the brachial plexus so i've got constant numbness in my elbow and forearm now.this neurosurgeon also mentioned that my pectoral and trapezious muscles have atrophied to almost no muscle tone because of no nerve activity.there is also the possibility of this nerve problem not getting any better only getting worse.

musclcar, i can feel your pain. Two years ago i had my foot ran over at work, and fractured a bone. I have severe nerve trauma and bone never healed. I had surgery to remove the bone. I have CRPS, chronic regional pain syndrom. It can cause muscle lose and bone deteriation. I have been off work for 2yrs. and i have lumbar nerve blocks to ease the pain. I also use neurontin, it will take about a month for it to really help. Hang in there.........
