Dan,--The more I look at it and photos of first gen Camaros, you can see how this car evolved---Cadillac just happened to wake up first with a similar design, but you can see the Camaro roots ----I would however like to see maybe 17'' wheels showing more rubber than wheel and maybe connect the rear lights like the first gen Camaros and put 400hp under the hood --I think they're on the right track--Let's hope the plug doesn't get pulled.....--An RS should look http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif...

The more I look at it, the more I like it. Wouldn't mind if they "de-cadillaced" the front end just a bit. Still, looking better every day.

I was at the Chicago auto show on Thursday evening, I hate to admit it, but I like the Challenger better than the Camaro. And I'm a lifelong chevy guy!

IMO, it should look more like a Camaro than a Cadillac. I should not be too concerned because I think GM will price this car too high to make it a big seller.

I can see how some people see Cadillac styling in the rest of the car with the sharp lines etc, but those aren't reserved for Cadillac.

The front end looks like anything but a Caddy to me. Cadillac uses a smooth/flush front end with tall sharp lamps. I don't see that at all in the new Camaro

http://gmcanada.com/images/vehicles/2006/cadillac/cts/cadi_cts_over_main.jpg

Regarding the pricing, lets hope GM learned a valuable lesson in how they priced the SSR pickup.

Maybe it's just me...........but I don't think there's one single thing about that car that looks like a Camaro......in spite of where GM says it got it's so-called styling queues.

I'm not saying it looks bad - I'm just saying it's not retro. Nothing on it reminds me of a Camaro. I'm supposed to be mesmorized by the slots in front of the wheel wells???

Verne...I'm with you. It's a stretch to call it retro...a real big stretch...C'mon GM, get it right!

I know it's not the Camaro alot were hoping for, but at this point Bruce I hope we're not having the same conversation about GM's new Camaro year after year until GM gets cold feet about any kind of Production----How 'bout a Camarostang--- http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Joe,

I agree that they should be applauded for trying...though they're 2 years late already......and the car won't debut until '09.

I think there needs to be a major mix up at GM. Hire in all the retired designers...and see what they can do. Heck they're already being paid (paid retirement). Charley and I talked to one of them during Barrett Jackson week...and he'd love to have a shot at it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif

I'd be happy with a Camarallenger, too! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Remember how many die hard Vette owners complained about the C5 when it was first shown to the public? Within a year I'd bet over half of the haters had one in their own garages http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I guess I'm one of the few that likes the Camaro.

I think if GM did what Dodge is doing they would not know where to go next.
IMO they are trying to build something to continue on into the future
(especially with the 'new' Motion & 'new' 69 Camaro bodies coming out)
& not bury themselves in a retro they can't top.

I wonder if the Camaro would have been better received if they would have put hockey stick stripes on it and painted it Hugger orange or Daytona yellow? I think that is a reason why the new Challenger was a hit.

That would have been cool to see as well.
The Camaro was the talk of NAIAS here in Detroit, it received the most press by far.

I think Silver is one of the better show colors, but I could be wrong about that.

Some thing the hoax news story leaked about a naked chick on the Dodge Challenger was actually started by DaimlerChrysler to help take the focus away from the Camaro. Intereting theory indeed http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Michael and Jeff, I'm with you guys - I think it looks great and I'm happy Chevrolet is putting it together. Where can I sign up for one with an LS2 and a six-speed?? How much for an LS7????

It's starting to grow on me. . I don't like the grille but the silver RS one looked pretty cool. . There may be some hope for the ol' General yet? . I've been amazed over the years how they seem to reverse engineer the trim stuff making the ugly available first, then the good stuff as an option and even better yet as the platform ages but often you can see it was planned all along? . Betcha' good tail lites etc. comes on later and better engine options too? . All part of how to sell more new ones each year as they pass the used ones off down the line. . Cool camaros.net shot Dan....anyone do a Yenko paint yet? ~ Pete

I think the factory should just put out something affordable that we can work with.
Why let the factory or the dealer get all the money.
Do some individualizing & make it different.

Remember the 3 packages ... Iroc Camaro, RS Camaro & Z28.
That sucked. I couldnt order a RS 350 TPI 5 speed because it wasnt in a package.
Just give me a V8 & a stick .. .I'll do the rest. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Here is Motor Trend's take on the new Concept Camaro. I found the comparitive specifications between the 69 Camaro and the 09 Concept interesting. Fairly close actually.

I think Im kinda getting this concept car now.
Several times this site has suggestions to take more lines from the original 69 car, but I see the attempt to establish it's own character for today's designs still with an aggressive look.
Dont get it too close to the best Camaro designed, but release it gaining a new breed of owners and admirers.
We all know GM needs to talk to US! for what will be succesful as it is US who supports the designs and cars that we will buy!
But, let's see where this car goes! before drawing any quick conclusions!
