You could hear it bouncing off of the rev-limiter during the brodies. 15-17,000 rpm I think.

Did anyone see if he was able to make the five circle symbol of the olympics with his donuts? The first three looked to be in the perfect position.

Probably about 15k. The Renaults rev to about 19k on the track. Honda the same. All on super refined 98 octane. It's VERY loud in person - either at the start when 20 cars all unload their launch control or when one car is doing donuts 40 ft away:

Saaawwweeeeeeett.
Now that is what a car should sound like! The sound sends shivers down my spine. I remember going to the Montreal F1 for the first time, it's more of a sound experience than anything else.
We had to walk over the track on a covered bridge and the cars were downshifting going into a corner. It felt like you were being shot from the unburned fuel burning out the back end.
The shreik of them under acceleration and especially at the shift point.

Boys that is the epitome of automotive engineering.

The Ferraris are capable of 19,500 rpm, and somewhere in the neighborhood of 900 HP from 3.0 litres! WOW. Great video I missed it the other night. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

I had a layover at Long Beach two years ago during the week prior to the grand prix. My room was on the 5th floor overlooking the front straight. 8:00 in the morning and:
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
An F1 car came out of the pits and past the hotel at well over 150. I jumped outta' bed and yanked open the curtains and just saw him, pop-off valve booming like a cannon as he decelerated for the hairpin. That sound is incredible. Every time he came past the hotel it was like armegeddon.
