I have been trying to buy a 68 Camaro that I sold in 1970. I located the current owner a little over 10 years ago. Here's the car:

I have attempted to buy it several times over the last 10 years or so. I got a yes once but then he changed his mind. The last several years I have had no response to my calls and notes. The car has been put in storage some where several years ago. It would need a rather substantial resto and the original L78
motor is gone. Any ideas that might work? Other than the obvious of grossly over paying for the car?

Find something he would like to trade for?
yeah ,,find out what he has been draming of, or would like to own ,lay it out once more or it will kill you to keep wanting it and he won't sell, and make a deal with him ,

I called the current owner this evening. This is not going to happen. The current owner has watched too many car auctions on TV. He has wildly overestimated the value of the car and has torn the car apart and started a full restoration using repro parts to do it on a budget. I understand budgets but not when it comes to doing cars correctly. Oh well, it was worth a try. I officially give up.

1'st thing, keep positive and treat it like YOU WILL end up w/ the car someday! . Keep him happy as sh*t happens and realities of life can strike him at any time, so make sure you're the one he will call when it does. . If he's near to you, drop in periodicaly and try not to be critical about his plans of resto regardless of the ways he goes about it wrong. . When there, try and note important details that may be lost during his 'resto' and take pictures of the disassembled car if possible. . Also try and buy any important original parts he's replacing w/ the repop stuff before it's too late. .
SuperNova's idea of swapping him something he wants more is your best bet....but if all else fails, blackmail may be your only final option? . A few calls from a female asking his wife if he's home then hanging up can go a long way to get things started?? . Good luck! ~ Pete

Bill;
Don't feel lonesome, I just went through the same thing late last year after locating my 1st `67 Chevelle SS. The current owner had a severe case of "eBay-itis" regarding the car and had essentially over-estimated what the car was worth by 2X considering some of the scabbed repairs (which he oddly enough admitted to me during our phone conversation regarding the car http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif ) and it's non-numbers status.
Kinda like running into your first love, only to find since you broke things off with her she's been married 5 times, has 10 kids (all by different fathers), a bad b**b job, and has been on Jerry Springer.
Twice.
In one season.
Just remember the good times. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif
