Did the Camaros get any insulation between the fuel tank and strap in 69? I know about the anti-squeak on the top if the tank but what went between the tank and strap on the bottom? I want to install my gas tank tonight but after going through some photos I am having second thoughts. Thanks!

In addition to no insulation between the tank and straps, I recently found out that some of the straps were black from the factory (as mine are). I always assumed that mine were replacements or painted by a prior owner.

I have found nothing BUT black straps on original cars (talking Chevelles here). The replacement straps that GM has been selling (and still may be) come thru as bare metal, which is probably why that's taken to be the correct finish.

I have an old NOS set of Camaro straps that are black. My 69 Camaro still has the original black straps on it.

While on the fuel tank subject.. Anyone ave any information or pics of any original markings on the fuel tank. I can make out some writing on my tank but I'm not sure exactly what it is. Thanks for all the help.

Here's pictures of mine.

What do the Pro's use for a finish on these during restoration?

How can I post more pictures in the same reply?
