I'm really happy no one got hurt in the transaction... Lets move on...
Someone has to have a project going on... Hey Tony... post some info on that new SS396 Nova you're building.
http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif
All right Dan...It's on the road now. The 427 got 464 HP and 489 TQ. I think GM should have made one of these. It is fun. I put the rear end back in it with the arched springs. Sits a lot better now. Gotta get it cleaned up now. Can't wait for roads to clear up.

Gonna start working on my 70 L78 th400 car. Former street racer/drag car that is basically a stock L78 with a few upgrades. Has 4.56 gears, traction bars, Accel ignition, trans. cooler. Plan on adding headers, 163, 850 Holley, M&T valve covers. Needs a little TLC but should make a fun driver for shows and cruise nites. Trunk is full of vintage speed stickers from the day. Man does this thing shift fast with those gears....will try to post some photos in a couple of weeks.

Al, do you know Bill Rose in Somerset? I just shipped a steering wheel to him today for his 68 Chevelle.
My new engine will be done next week. Here is my combo: 427 + .060 4 bolt block, 7/16 floating pin rods with Wiseco pistons with approx 10.3 to 1 compression, sq. port 840 (110 CC) cast heads with 2.19/1.88 Manley stainless valves, Crane Gold roller rockers, Crane hydraulic cam with 282 duration and 533 lift, Edelbrock RPM intake with an 850 Holley and 2" Hooker headers. This is going in my 68 Beaumont SD with a 400 trans with a 2500 stall converter and 3.42 posi rearend. What do you think of this combo? What would you guess the hp to be?
Thanks, James
Jame Yes I do know Bill..hes my neighbor and good freind..we travel all over going to car shows together..great guy!!..we have been talking about your wheel auction all week http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif..his 68 is real nice!!
nice motor combo for your beaumont..no guess on HP..but sounds like a good solid combo..best of luck with it.

James...It's nothing fancy. I wanted a decent pulling pump gas engine.
512 2 bolt from a 69 Caprice.
.030 over TRW's cut down to 9.75 comp.
063 ovals with 2.19 and 1.88 minor port work and gasket match.Comp springs.
7/16 eagle rods
standard crank
comp XM 288H 12 cam 570 and 575 lift
Performer intake with a Pro-systems 950 double pumper
edelbrock fuel pump
comp roller tip rockers
2" hooker super comps
I am guessing your combo will do right at 500 Hp and 500 TQ.

jfk: Not that I'm any expert, but I'd guess your combo to be in the 475-500hp (flywheel) range...anyone got a Desktop Dyno program to run the numbers through?
And what's with everyone using the heavy 7/16 rods?

1972 Nova SS350 we picked up over the summer. 82,000 miles, 2 build sheets, M20 4-spd, smog, all there! Had to bypass the heater core because it is blowing smoke. I just bought all new hoses and hardware, heater core and related gaskets. In two weeks the car is heading to the restoration shop.
I was going to do a lot of the work myself but now I do not have the time. Its a real shame because most everything I need done is within my limits. He will paint the CL wheels, fix the heater core, install all new hoses, get rid of some bondo around the rear bumper, fix a drip in the gas tank, drop the tank to get the build sheet, fix the horn relay/horns, and get the radio to stop shaking. Then is off to the Hi-Po Speed Shop for a new front shaft kit, wheel alignment and idler arm. I should have it back in a month or so.
I would post some pictures but nothing has started now... just boxes of parts... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

As soon as the weather breaks I am finishing the garage walls and floors and getting a lift, it's getting tough to detail a car on your back !
