Martha2626 (http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZmartha2626) Anyone know who this is ? Looking at his auction feedbacks, item question and answers he reminds me of Greg at DPE. The guy claiming to have GM records. In one of his answers he states he will make you a protecto-plate. His pics are always too far away to determine if the stampings are real.

Dont know who it is, but he has sold multiples of everything. I've been watching his auctions for about two months and the pictures never change. Ram air Pontiac intakes, deep groove pulleys, Viper blocks, multiples of each..... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Who is "Greg at DPE"?

Tommy_Mathison
02-27-2006, 12:05 AM
Martha2626 it is Greg from Durability Plus Engines. He restamps distributors, alternators, recasts dates on exhaust manifolds, etc..... I bought some parts off him as NOS but they were repo parts. He also offered to restamp my engine blocks and make me a POP, I declined of course. Hope this helps.

I just got an SS hood from him - he claimed its NOS but when we got it, it was a goodmark hood. Just found this out 2 days ago...called him and am trying to get my money back....i have several numbers if anyone needs them. He talks a good game when you talk to him, if you can get a word in !! I would not buy anything else from him, lets see if he makes good on the refund for the hood and shipping.

TDW
02-27-2006, 03:14 AM
No, wait a minuet. Piggysnout was Bains seller name. Are they the same guy?

Ed..Did the hood have a GM sticker on it? If a guy can make a POP, I would think he could make a sticker too?

I bought 2 "NOS" Crossram hoods, They were obviously reproduction. I paid $600 each for them but he swore they were NOS. Said he bought them from a guy who had them in his attic. Only goes to show, if its too good to be true, it probably is.

No dice on the return. He's a very tough guy to get a hold of. I just gave up. They are pretty good repos, maybe I can sell them on ebay or somthing.

Yeah, He didnt even bother taking the stickers off the hoods, They looked like Parts Place Inc stickers. This guy is either an idiot or completely arrogant... hmm......

Shame. I couldn't read the whole story but people will gladly pay for the repop stuf, why go to the extreme of trying to pass of repop as NOS in this day and age. Most people looking for this stuff know exactly what they are looking for. Look at all the bogus stuff we've seen come across this board. Wheels, cars, on and on... don't know why people think they can get away with this crap anymore. Is a few more dollars really worth getting cornholed for 6 months as Mrs Bubba in the slammer ?

"Heres some more on this Cat!!

(ANGOLA) - A Steuben County Superior Court jury found an Angola businessman guilty last night on charges of Corrupt Business Influence and two counts of Theft. 48 year old Gregory Long was convicted of putting automotive merchandise up for auction on the internet and in auto publications and then not delivering the products to the winning bidders. He was also accused by Angola Police and Steuben County authorities of bidding the items up by using a series of fraudulent bidders. According to court documents, the losses totaled nearly $34,000 and the alledged victims were from New Jersey, British Columbia Canada, Washington and New York. Long was originally charged with seven Class D felony counts of theft. The Corrupt Business Influence count was a Class C felony and carries a prison sentence of between two and eight years. The convictions came after a two day trial. Long operates a business enterprise on Oak Street in Angola called Durability Plus Engines. Sentencing is scheduled to take place in April."

Herald -Republican
ANGOLA — A Steuben Superior Court jury found an Angola businessman guilty of corrupt business practice and two of seven counts of theft in a two-day trial that wrapped up Friday night.

Gregory John Long, 48, Lake James, had sold specialty auto parts across the country but didn’t provide goods that reflected what were promised in two of the cases brought against him.

The case stemmed from when Long marketed parts on eBay and specialty auto publications. The parts were purported to be hard-to-find items for older vehicles.

The sales ranged up to $13,000 and were shipped to buyers from New York to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

“They were looking for a specific thing and they were paying big money; $10,000, $13,000, to me that’s big money,” Prosecutor Tom Wilson said. “Mr. Long didn’t deliver.”

Long’s attorney, Tim Cain, said the case was merely a matter of a few customers not happy with business transactions.

“This is not a criminal case. This is the case of a businessman with a few disgruntled customers,” Cain said said in his closing argument. “Greg Long didn’t cheat anybody. He didn’t attempt to steal from anybody and he certainly didn’t conduct corrupt business activity.”

To prove the Class C felony racketeering charge, Wilson had to show that Long committed a crime at least twice in order to benefit his business enterprise. For that, Long faces up to eight years in prison. He will be sentenced in April.

In his final argument, Cain warned the jury that if it found Long guilty of theft and racketeering, no Steuben County business would be safe from criminal charges.

“There is one thing Mr. Cain is correct about. If people do business they way he (Long) does, they’re asking for trouble,” Wilson said.

Wilson said Long must have believed that the customers he cheated from great distances away from Angola would not pursue their misfortune.

“I don’t think he thought they would complain but they did,” Wilson said. Victims from New York, New Jersey, Washington state and Vancouver were in Angola to testify against Long. Their original complaints were taken to the Angola Police Department. Most of the sales took place in 2004.

The two Class D felony counts Long was convicted on stemmed from the sale of performance parts classified as “new old parts,” those that were manufactured in a particular year but never bolted on to a vehicle.

In these two cases the parts in question were purportedly from 1969 and were sold in the range of $10,000. The parts sold were replicas. When Long was discussing the sales to his victims, he claimed that he had bought the parts in 1969 — when he would have been 11 years old.

Cain said Long tried to make good with customers who weren’t satisfied. Those who were in the gallery Friday night shook their heads in disbelief as they heard Cain try to maintain that Long had satisfied some of them and tried to make things right with his goods.

The jury deliberated for about three hours, going into chambers around 6 p.m. The trial started Thursday afternoon after jurors were seated.

It's good to see him being shut down, but are the people he screwed over going to get their money back? These guys do this thinking people will not band together to shut them down. The time and cost for people to travel for a court case usually mean the people don't pursue it. I just hope there's a way to keep these guys off the web, but the Kurt P situation is showing us that I doubt that will happen. The worst part is that we'll never know how many restamped engine's he sold to people that are out there floating around and being sold in cars as #'s matching!

Wow, I cant believe this thread...its the first Ive seen it...I spoke to this guy a few years back and he insisted that he had a list of all the original 67 Z-28 engines and thier respective VINs straight from GM and that he actually had 4 of the original MO motors from the original cars. Then he went on to tell me about the 4 NOS JL-8 rears and the numerous NOS x-ram set-ups that he had stored for 40 years. I wanted to drive to his shop right away, but he would not give me the VINs from the MO motors that he had and he in-fact wanted to know the VINs from my 67 Z's in order to check "his inventory"...at that point my suspicions got the best of me and I decided that this guy is probably just a BS'er....I had hoped to atleast get a copy of his "list straight from GM" of the MO motors that were issued. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Thank God I did not drive there..or worse send any money for his NOS parts!!!

So Greg isn't Bain...right?.
But they are/were pals and worked together on some 'projects'?.

Is this the same crook who's mother was trying her best to pay back the people he ripped off?.
Or what about the crook who's son in the forces landed on here and seemed a decent lad...is this that guy?.

Regardless of the recent eBay item being what it's claimed to be or not, is it known if he has any court order against him from selling parts online?.
Maybe he liked being the jailhouse bunk muffin and is missing his new chums?.
