This car sold on Ebay 3-4 months back for 32K and change. Very nice low mile car but has been repainted and has a few other minor issues. Looks like the owner is flipping it for a little profit.

I think an sYc member represented or owned this car, remember it being discussd here a while back. With the recent spike in second gens this one should fetch well north of forty.I feel sorry for the chap who got soaked on that Daytona yellow 70,this is one you would consider saving the air fare on JMHO

I like this car. how big an issue is the crossmember from the tranny switch? What are the odds that this car was drag raced and still has its original motor?
What "issues" are easily spotted on this car.
I am considering it, as it fits my wants, and i could drive it and not worry about ruining a fresh frame off. I don't mind improving and correcting things along the way.
thanks in advance for knowledgeable opinions.

I believe the story goes that the original owner drag raced the car back in the 70's and installed an Automatic transmission and somehow lost the original 4 speed crossmember. The engine is apparently original and never been out of the car. I presume the owner kept the original M-22 and that is now back in the car but I have not seen the stamping to prove it. Very nice original car overall.
The current owner states that he painted the car but I would question why that was done. What paint was used, were the stripes applied correctly, and so on. Was it a quick job to increase the value of the car for resale purposes? I would have rather purchased the car with the older repaint and then painted the car myself.

The car was sold this summer by a friend of mine. It's a legit car and the drivetrain is 100%. Body is rock soilid, it was repainted in '93 by a previous owner and looks the part. As far as unmolested 2nd Gen Z/28s go it's a very nice one IMO. The crossmember was swapped out for an automatic version when the car was drag raced years ago. The original M22 was reinstalled when the car was retired from it's weekend warrior status back in the early 70's. I have no affiliation with the current seller but the car should speak for itself when seen in person.
Here's an old thread I started about it just after my buddy found it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat...true#Post170305 (http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB10&Number=170305&Search page=3&Main=170305&Words=Supercar_Kid&topic=&Searc h=true#Post170305)
