That car is gittin' some air time! Somebody rescue this car and give it a good home. I think I also remember the original owner listing this awhile back as budnate said.

Here's a car I just sold to my neighbor for $35K. I bought it last year from the orig. owners. Has orig. paint and trips. Ordered with 4:33 and (my favorite) quick ratio manual steering with power brakes, etc... He's not sure if he got a good deal! On my end, at least I get to see what looks like a 4-year-old 66 GTO drive around my neighborhood.

Left one controls electric fuel pump, middle one is wired to front parking lights and the one on the right is wired to back up lights. Dont ask me why-I guess its a 60's thing

http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif It WAS a 60's-70's thing...for some unknown reason we used to like to drive around with our reverse lights on...especially at a light...

Hey Bruce,
Yeah, the '61 is a neat style, with that porch roof hanging out the back. I had bought a car like that for my son many years ago. Looks like a fun car, but a lot of changes have been made. I like the description "rare “factory original” forged tube frame". Well golly, it looks like a normal Chevy tube frame to me. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Mine has a forged tube frame too I guess...lot of work on the rear end...4th control arm and looks like a bit of reinforcment welding up there too...I think this is really cool...al it needs is more cubic inches....I dig the trunk emblems on 61's. Surf Green....is different !

Just an fyi: (sorry if this is killing the GTO thread)
There were 3 different frame types: The Chevy (or Detriot) frame like this car has, which is extruded tubing. It has a recess squeezed into the top and bottom for strength. It was bent to shape and left wrinkles in the inside radii like bending a tailpipe. There was an A.O. Smith frame which was a welded opposing channel frame with extra reinforcements for convertibles, and the Budd frames which were the standard welded channel frames. Except for the convertible frames which were used only on those models, the other two types were used at random on all models as they happened to come in to the assembly plants. In '64, a reinforcement was added at the assembly plant to the rear control arm bracket on 409 cars. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
