1968 Camaro Z/28

Body:
The original color is British Green with white Z stripes. The original body has had many panels replaced with all NOS parts. The shell has 2 new rear quarter panels with outer wheel housings. The rear tail light panel was replaced and so was the upper panel between the trunk lid & rear window. The roof was stripped and massaged where needed. The rockers are solid rust free originals. It still sports the original trunk lid with 70’s era racing stickers. This piece needs to be stripped and prepped. The whole body is shot with a green tinted primer and needs only light sanding & paint. The original doors are still there and need stripping and a little work. They have very little rust and the driver’s door needs a small dent repaired. The trunk floor is cut out and there is a new replacement floor panel waiting to be welded in. The floor is solid but need 2 spots repaired and the typical 4 speed butcher job repaired on the side of the tunnel. I was looking at replacing the whole floor but it is definitely solid enough for just patching. The last details that need finishing are the firewall and the defroster panel. The firewall needs sand blasting, seam refilling and repainting. The defroster panel needs to be bought and replaced. I have all the original glass except one rear quarter glass. The dash metal is rust free and presentable. There is no radio and the holes are not butchered.

Interior:
It is a black standard interior. The seats are repairable. I would take them to an upholstery shop to get some cloth behind the vinyl repaired. They probably could use some extra padding at this time. The vinyl is in very good condition. The headliner and the carpet are missing. The door and rear side panels are presentable.

Rear End:
The original 12-bolt positraction rear is still under the car. It is stamped BW 0425G. This means 4.56 gearing and an assembly date of 4/25/68. I can’t vouch for the condition of the rear because the car has not been ran in 32 years. It also still retains the original leaf springs. The car currently has vintage traction bars from its earlier race days.

Front sub frame:
The sub is removed from the car currently and there is a custom-made heavy-duty carrier set up bolted in its place. This carrier has swivel casters on it and I transported it to my house from Baltimore, Maryland. The sub still has the original quick ratio manual steering box. It also has all of the original front disc brake parts. The firewall still has the correct power brake booster and proportioning valve. Everything needs cleaning and a light blasting to get it ready for POR15. I would replace all the bushings and body mounts with black polyurethane parts.

Front end sheet metal:
The original radiator support is still there. The front fenders, inner fenders, upper & lower valance panels and wiper panel are all NOS.

Chrome:
I have original bumpers that are street driver presentable and the entire brackets that go with them. I probably have all of the original chrome from around the windows but I have not laid them out and looked at them. The rear taillights are pitted and need replacing. I also have an average set of side marker lights. I have NOS z28 fender emblems and Camaro script fender emblems.

Rims:
I have one original rim from the car with the correct date stamp. I have bought 3 others that are the correct DF stamped 1968 15 x 6 rally rims. These are specific to only the 1968 Z28 Camaro.

Motor:
I have a date code perfect long block. This is an original 302 MO motor from a Los Anglos car. The block and the heads are exactly a day apart from each other. The build date is V0430MO. This is one week ahead of the body.

4 speed:
The transmition is missing. I do have the original Muncie shifter and cross member for the car.

The car has had most of the difficult bodywork done and the front frame needs mostly cleaning and paint. Once the last of the bodywork is done, and the frame is mounted, you are almost done. I have the original wiring harness for the front end and motor. I am quite sure there are not many 26,000 mile original 1968 Z28s left.

I am in the process of cleaning up the subframe so that It can go back in the car.

The price on the car is $25,000...I will have pictures later this week after I get the subframe back under it. The mileage is 26,000 not 26 miles. I have complete history of the 4 owner car and and I this I can get pictures of it racing in 1968. Still working on that.
