Does anyone know if the 70 LS6/L78 timing cover is exactly the same as the one used on all hiperf. big blocks with 8" balancer in 1969?
Is the timing tab exactly the same?
Or was it a one year only style for 70.

Rick,I saw a cover that was suppose to be the original cover on a 1968 engine that had a timing tab that looked the same as the one used in 1970 with the A O R and angled cut at the top,is there some other difference in the 1968 cover or tab that I didn't notice because it was already installed?
Do you have a picture of a 1970 cover showing a close up of the tab at different angles?
Thanks,
Dave

The 1965-68 Solid Lifter engines used Cover #3885054.
1965-68 Hydraulic Lifter used cover #3882820.
I believe those have a different oil seal seating area then the #444 and have a timing tab that shows A D
Here is a 1970 #444 cover.
