Everybody loves auctions, especially finding out who paid what and who got the best deal. Problem is, most of the cars for sale have changed hands more than you change socks in a week. Not so for several cars up for auction at Spring Carlisle 2006 next month.
You see, several of Chip Miller’s personal cars are being sold at the auction at the new Carlisle Expo Center from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, April 21 and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 22. About 260 vehicles are slated for sale. For example, Chip bought a 427-450hp 1966 Corvette coupe in 1975, and kept it. This car is one of the very rare cars with a 450hp label on the air cleaner. Chip died at age 61 in March 2004, from complications related to amyloidosis.
That coupe, along with a 1963 Sebring Silver split-window coupe from Chip’s collection, will be sold. Others being auctioned, but not from his collection, include a red -on -red 1970 GTO Judge, a 1987 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe with just 3,592 miles and a 1970 Dodge Challenger convertible, reportedly a one of one Detroit Auto Show car with a 440 Six Pack. Other muscle includes a Verdero Green 1969 Judge hardtop, a red 1969.5 Dodge Super Bee Six Pack with a lift-off hood and another 1969 Super Bee, this one a Hemi and one of 38 known with a four-speed.
