I would like to post a questionable trim tag on this site to see what your opinion is - can I email someone a picture to post? Or can someone tell me how to post a picture?
Thanks

In your next post ..scroll down and select "add an attachment", then look for the pic in your computer. Or send it to me....

ok - it is a little hard to see in the photo because it is painted orange. but you can make out an X-33 code that is larger than the rest of the numbers on the tag. The other 'blemish' on this tag is the date month is either stamped over or damaged and you can't read it. This car has a DZ stamped motor that has a vin that matches the car, but the stamp (T0809DZ) is pretty early and in my opinion this car shoudl probably not even have an x-code, seems like a fake in my opinion. But maybe someone took a no x-code Z and thought they could get more with an x-33 code on it? Let me know your thoughts.

Cant see much in the tag pic. But the date having flaws, and the X77 being very pronounced, it definately raises a flag.

If the vin matches with the early august dated engine, its a tampered tag. The VIN will need to be in the 560xxx range or higher for the tag to have a X code.

Adding X codes to tags that shouldnt have them isnt anything new.

Another possibility could be its a late production car. But in that case, it would most likely have a D80 on the tag also.
