I find it interesting no one else has started a post on this B/J auction in Palm Beach. Surely others here, must be watching.
Thursday night I saw a Hugger Orange YENKO Clone complete with SS badges and Black Grill. Announcers didnt notice this. I think it sold for $58K
Friday night I just saw buyer Alan Jones by a 69 Z-28 Crossram with Firestone WIDE Ovals.....only $100K

Thought I saw Don Stowers buy a blue 66 Chevelle yesterday?

I'm still burned-out from watching Scottsdale. I did watch some Palm beach coverage on Friday night. That black/black '69 CJ Mach 1 with the red stripe was pretty nice. Not original color but a real looker. Paint was in the "too nice" category--it looked like glass.

i don't mind them picking cars apart. It just bothers me when they do that and the information they give or imply is wrong.

You mean the way we do? (I mean that in a joking way!) I'd rather have Steve Magnante or anyone smart enough tell us what's wrong and what's right with the cars. I learn stuff that way. If I was a bidder I'd be picking the car apart, or paying an expert to do it for me.

i learn from all that too , but i guess it reminds me when i used to take my pro street 57 chevy to local cruises and hear some people pick my car apart. i would obviously ignore them but it still bothered me.

I guess I dont see it as picking the cars apart necessarily. Its more of a first hand account of how the car looks in person, rather than the few seconds of video in each area we see on TV.
If it needs attention in some areas, they say that. If its a very nicely done car, the mention that also.

They messed up on the black 70 LS6 chevelle tonight too. When it rolled across the auction block they said it was originally a 396 car when in the trunk there was a document that the seller put there clearly said that it was a LS6 car. Ealier in the program they said that the car wasn't certified as an LS6 and they got that confused when it rolled across the block. I could see a car there not being "certified", but why would you lie about authenticity at a place like barrett jackson, where a car is picked apart before it even rolls across the block. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Bottom line is you have to be cautious about some of what they say. They know a lot, but there isn't any one person that knows all about every car. I've heard these guys quote production numbers and other things that are way off. If they do that with just the few cars I really know about, then who knows what else might be off on. And yes, I know that some of the info they get is from sellers documentation which is sometimes incorrect.

It was great to see the buyers more aware of the GARBAGE going threw the block.
I found the best car down the street at a local car show on Saturday on the way to dinner after BJ's.
The best buys were the Street Rods. Now those guys had to be crying! HALF OFF SALE !!
A few good Muscle cars but over ALL, guys got caught trying to sell &*^%. Everybody was talking about the quality of the cars and if it was quality, it didnt have paperwork.
I just tell it like it is. Sorry NO sugar coating it !!
I couldn't hear the sound very well. What was wrong with that LS6 that it went for $58K?

OK Rich I had to do it.
"I found the best car down the street at a local car show on Saturday on the way to dinner after BJ's."
I found that statement confusing. Are you saying that you got a BJ before dinner? Please tell me your secret.
What makes it hard (no pun intended this time) for me to watch it is the "brokers" out on the floor. They annoy me to no end., even the cute woman with the long brown hair. With their hand motions and screaming jibberish is just too much.

Dave: Your the type of guys who gets annoyed when he doesnt crap on the exect time he went to the bathroom yesterday. From your last statement[What makes it hard (no pun intended this time) for me to watch it is the "brokers" out on the floor. They annoy me to no end., even the cute woman with the long brown hair. With their hand motions and screaming jibberish is just too much] ALL the BROKERS,sounds like you have gone to quite a few of these auctions or Barneby Jones wasnt on TV last night ?? I wish you could name three brokers that you seen on TV. A broker could never sell a car to you becuase your the type who sits on toilet bowl reading your Hemmings(or on line, computer guy) and now your an expert.
Sorry!! THE long hair girl and I wrecked your Saturday night, instead you could have been doing the normal on your PC Getting your freak on, from the sounds of your last post..

Chuck You have to be there !! To see the cars in person, you would know why some cars did it and some cars fell..
Been saying for a long time Pedigree Pedigree !!
Some people think they can cash in on the name(BJ) and bring #3+ condition cars and sell for #1 condition prices and they didnt fool to many people. Arizona brings in the EYE CANDY and they go wild..The cars that looked Super brought the money at Palm Beach, which was very few.
Vettes came out in full force
