Picture Posting tutorial...

Here goes!

First you'll need to go to this website Easy Thumbs software (http://www.fookes.com/ezthumbs/index.php) and download the FREE program. It's small and won't take up that much space on your hard drive.


Once you install the software you can 'tab' to a screen that looks like this:

Make sure that you change the default setting to 600, 600 or 800, 800 for bigger pictures, as in the circled areas. Also set your jpeg output quality to 80 or less...that normally keeps the file size manageable


You will then need to 'tab' to the 'preview output' page
and set up where you'd like to "store" the resized photos...as shown here. I normally save to the desktop for ease of finding them.

You can do one picture at a time, or a bunch. The program is really fast! (make..or make all)

You'll then need to sign up here: Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com/)

Once you sign up, you'll come to this page:

You can load one picture at a time, or as many as 19 pictures at once!(listed as submit multiple pictures)

Once the pictures are uploaded, all you have to do is 'right click' as shown in the photo below and select 'copy'. Then make your post on Yenko.net and wherever you want the picture...skip a line and then hit paste!

600 pixels wide is as wide as you want the pictures, or else it screws up the forum page and folks will have to scroll...everything else looks good though!

We've discussed those wheels a couple times before on this site. Those are Mickey Thompson Challengers, 1965. I have a hunch he bought a mold from Rader and modified it to add the two outter ribs on each spoke (original Raders had only the center rib). They've gained popularity over the years and can demand high prices. An NOS set sold for over $850. last year. Don't buy any thaty have problems with the chrome. That's the key. Buy good chrome. The aluminum is just a matter of elbow time.

I noticed in your tutorial you chose the address for the "Img" in Photobucket. I've been using the top one, labelled "Url" and it seems to be working fine. Is there any difference between the two? Advantages or disadvantages of one over the other??

Verne...URL stands for Uniform Resourse Locator...which is just another way of saying a world wide web (www) address...

An IMG file is an image file.

Normally you'd use the TAG choice if you were building or adding to a website.

Here are the three choices:

Verne, in order for you to make the URL choice work, you have to be adding the and the in front of and at the end of the url...otherwise it just gives you a clickable link to view the picture. When you choose the IMG selection...the and the are already there...that's the only difference between the two.

guys whats the scoop on pics I am stuck? I tried to drop a pic into D's birthday deal and found I am lost....I click on the pic thing and it asks about floating the pic...?

it then asks for a URL....totally lost again,in the past that was after a pic was allready loaded to the site and you wanted it allready opened for viewing right?

does the site not support pics and we have to host them off site like a photobucket site?

Even easier is to utilize the icons up above. The fourth one from the left is to enter an image. Once you've gone as far as loading your image up into the forum (like you did)...click on the picture link...then go to the address bar above and copy the location...once you have done that then click on the fourth button over from the left-like so-and paste the image location that you copied into the appropriate box:

Picture question please, sorry if lingo's incorrect?
When pics are posted using Photobucket etc, deleting them from the host later blanks out images from appearing as posted in a thread...right?
But if using the new 5'th box over and downloading pics directly from your computer successfully, is the site then hosting the image and it will show as posted in the thread even if later deleted it from your computer?

Why aren't my pics showing up when I post now? I've always used the IMG link from Photobucket, but now it doesn't seem to be working for me. It shows ok in preview, but only shows the URL when I post it.
Also, my &quot;edit&quot; time appears to be set to zero. I post something and even if I immediately go back in, it says my time for editing has expired.
Here's the last link I posted that didn't seem to work... (Edit: Everything is working in this section, but not in others...)

I'm trying to learn how to post photos to the site. When I used the "Manage Attachments" function and tried to upload my photo, it gave me the message
"The Dimension limits for this filetype are 1500 x 2500. We were unable to resize your file so you will need to do so manually and upload it again. Your file is currently 4032 x 3024."

I've seen references to clicking on a certain box, but my screen looks different. When the site was updated, I recall getting a message asking whether I wanted to view the site in the new format or the old... not being good with change, I chose the old. Could it be that I need to change my view to the new format? If so... how?

Thanks, I figured out a way to reduce their size... by emailing the photos to myself from my iPhone and choosing the size I wanted. Is there an easier way to do that? I think it worked, at least it does in the preview.

Depending on device, sometimes you can reduce sizes by taking a screenshot of the pic then try loading that saved image.

With the demise of Photobucket, I started using http://www.imgbb.com to host pictures and provide free redirects for the forums. Here's a bit of a tutorial for those who don't do this a lot but want something simple.

Image redirects to the forums from www.imgbb.com hosting site

In order to post pictures on the forums, you must first upload your pictures to a hosting site like imgbb.com, Image Shack, Picasa or any other online picture hosting. Once you have uploaded your pictures and sorted them into folders/albums that you create on the hosting site/s, you simply log into that site and look for the share links for that particular album. You can then select and copy the code for pasting images via HTML, BBcode or IMG tags. In most forums, I find BBCode works very well. Here’s how I do it using imgbb.com for my own picture hosting.

1. Login to imgbb.com & create a profile. Once logged in you can create album folders.
2. Next click Start Uploading and select the images you wish to upload from your PC
3. Upload the picture/s to imgbb.com, placing them into the folder of your choice.
4. Once uploaded look for the completion box with Embed codes for posting to forums.
(I use the BBCode medium linked as this resizes the image automatically, displays it in a medium size but also allows viewers to click on the
image once posted into the forums and opens it up bigger with linked zoom features)
5. Copy those links upon completion of your uploads for use in the forums.

Here’s how to copy and paste the redirect or hosting links into the forums.

• Open a new text box in the forum and enter any text you want before adding pictures
• Hit your return (enter) key to place your cursor on a new line below your text lines
• With your hosting site open in another window, look for the Embed Codes with the links.
• Right click (or Ctrl C) and Copy the BBCode image link from your share options on your hosting site such as imgbb.com (I prefer using the
BBCode Medium Link that’s only available when you finish uploading the images. It’s available in a pop up box for copying)
• With the link copied from imgbb.com you can now right click (or Ctrl V) and paste your link below the text in your new forum thread or within the
reply you are typing on the forum
• Now click the Preview Post button (lower right) to proof your image links before you Create Thread or before you click on the submit button. This
will display how your image is presented to others on the forums prior to posting anything?
• After your image is posted, you can always add some text above or below the image to add comments or descriptions
• To add more pictures, simply hit the enter key to space a line or two down and repeat copy & paste guidelines as required

If you prefer to use IMG tags or Image URL’s, you can also use the Insert Image icon located along the top of the thread box tools on the forums and paste the links into the pop ups. Just be sure to preview the post before you submit the thread as some images are larger than others. If you are going to use the Full Image links on imgbb.com then please note this link will display the full native size of your images and may be very large when displayed in the forums. I prefer using the Medium Links or Thumbnails as they display better in the forums and allows people to click on them to redirect to larger high res imaging.

If you want to resize your images to forum friendly sizes such as 1024x768 before you upload them to imgbb.com this will ensure you are linking the proper sizes into the forums regardless of what size Embed codes you are posting to the forums.

Hope this helps some of you guys out. Once you've done it a couple times...you'll be an old pro at it. :)
