My son just took delivery of a survivor 81 Z28. It has 26k orig miles and has orig paint, tires and exhaust. It is a great feeling having my son interested and appreciate survivor cars...almost as much as I do. This is a really loaded up car with the cool space suit interior. It is his first classic car. What a great start to this awesome hobby. He is still at college so I'm going to have a little fun with it before he comes home next month.

Man, I would have never thought a 1981 anything would be considered a classic car.
Damn, how old am I? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif </font>

I had a '78 TA and a '78 Z/28 back in the day. That '81 is sweet! What would a car of similar quality bring(mid teens?)? I know of one locally, but the guy refuses to name the price, he wants me to offer. I'm looking for a couple for my daughters to have as their first cars(they are 8 &amp; 10, I figure I better find the cars before the prices soar).

The pricing is all over if you follow ebay. Basically, my son and I loved the color and the fact it was a survivor so we paid a premium. I am no expert on these years, but think you can find them like ours between 10 and 16K.

Hey Sam, let's see a couple pics! My first Camaro was a Bright Yellow 78 Z/28, 4 speed and saddle interior with "plaid" cloth seats! There was a magazine ad with the same car in it..

Hey Sam,
Just got it and spent the weekend back in 78 http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Those memories really come back quick. Thinking about all those girls who got consolitis from http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif..anyway 4 speed, dark blue green metallic, 10,460 original miles, almost identical to my first car except for the cloth enterior(I had green vinyl) and I also had the finned aluminum rims and posi. http://www.yenko.net/attachments/203827-78Z.jpg

I like this post. I to had friends in HS with late 70's or early 80's Z28's. I still recall a classmate that had a 81 Z which was really stripped down, no A/C, no power anything. The car had headers and some other aftermarket stuff on it, it moved out good.

I am partial to 77 Z28's thus my username. I always regret not buying a 77 Z28 in HS shortly before moving to Atlanta. Seller was in the military and was being deployed to Korea for year and was selling it. Car was all original (brown with tan interior, 4 speed) except exhaust. Dad said no to purchase since it wouldn't pass emissions in Atlanta. Turned out once there they only went back 10 years and the car was just beyond cut off point and would not have mattered. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You just don't see many 77's.
