I posted pics of this car about a year ago when I found it for this current customer. He brought the car back this week for some minor details....new Redline Tires, new black (752) 300 Deluxe door panels, and a complete wet sand and buff. Stunning with the new Redlines.

This sounds all too familiar...I have seen this quite a few times as the person working the assembly line made a mistake....amagine that http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I found the cars IBM card under the rear seat along with another IBM card belonging to a 69 El Camino http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Translation....13427 = 300 Deluxe Pillar Post 2 door Sedan...52(752) = Black Vinyl Deluxe interior...

0354 = ?
303 = Weekly production number
277291 = Vehicle sequential number
B22 = ? Not sure....I think it is RPO Rubber floor mat
U80 = Auxillary Rear Speaker
M21 = Close Ratio 4 Speed
03C4 = Third week March

Hey Don Lightfoot help out a fellow Post Sedan fan. What is RPO B22? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Dan,

Cool ride. Which motor? Didn't know they put non-interior options on an IBM card (M21). Which factory? You mentioned "new black (752) 300 Deluxe door panels". Are they making these now? Or did you track some NOS down for him?

Thanks,

Thanks a lot Dan, now you got my brain trying to work http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif

I have no record of a RPO B22 for 69 Chevelle, but that doesn't mean it did not exist.

If my memory serves me right there were a couple of threads on TC about this code, but it was for 1970 cars. I believe it had something to do with the SS emblem on the door panels. That's strange if you relate that to 69 300 Deluxe SS models as they simply said Chevelle on the door panels. If I find anything I'll let you know.

Sam,

I`ll take some pictures tomorrow of the new black 300 Deluxe door panels...I`ll post them tomorrow.

Don...I looked under Team Chevelle De-coding options...you are correct once again. However there is Barry Bonds..oops I mean an asterisk next to B22....which states..."Submitted via email".

*B22 = Door Trim Panel "SS"

All SS 300 Deluxe Coupe or Post Sedan`s came with the Standard 300 Deluxe interior`s which read "Chevelle" on the door panel.

If anyone out there happens to own this 69 Custom El Camino #270407. I`d be happen to reunite the IBM with it`s proper owner/vehicle.

Dan that is a very nice of you to offer that card to the owner of that car... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif Now is this the Van car??? If so I want to see that emblem on that car.... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Dan, here's Canadian Docs on a 69 Chevelle 300 Deluxe Hardtop SS. No mention of the B22. If I had to guess, I would agree with you that it is a rubber flooring code, rather than a formal RPO. Some kind of note to tell the line worker not to put in carpet http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Don, What is B79 Exterior Ornamentation Rearend?

James, that doc is for an Oshawa car and sometimes they had some RPO's that other plants might not have shown. I would think the B79 is the rear SS 396 emblem. More interesting is the B95 rear end moldings. The base 300 Deluxe models did not have these, but the Malibus did as standard equipment. If you ordered the SS on a 300 Deluxe model it was necessary to add these moldings.

Bruce,

We did not restore this Post Sedan...however it is a very nice complete frame off restoration.
It was restored near Kansas City area.

Mark....yes this is the Van Chevrolet Chevelle.

If anyone is looking for any factory dealer name plates such as this one....Mark (396L35) collects them and found this one for me at a very fair price.
Thanks Mark http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif Yes...I`ll be sure to send you a pic when I place it on the car next week.

RPO B-22 is an interior inner door panel ornament.It is not SS specific.
The 1968-73 Chevrolet A-bodies used it followed by "SS 396" or "SS" on their buildsheets if they were Super Sports...It was used on other GM cars as well to denote a special door panel badge,for whatever the car was,Chevelle,Malibu,Monte Carlo,Super Sport etc.throughout the years to callout their special option package.
That code was & is still being used on other GM Cars today for the same reason.
I only show Canada reporting the RPO B-22 code as early as 1972 on their Documents.
