I am going to look at what is suppose to be a 69 chevelle ss 396/375 car. Car is minus motor and trans but still has 12 bolt.Car is still in org paint. It is a non air, automatic with tach. What clues can I look for or is it imposssible without a buildsheet or pop to distinguish between 325hp car and 375hp. thanks

Look to see if it has a single 3/8 fuel line along the frame...

Did the L78 only come with a single 3/8 line? What did a 325hp car have? thanks

The lower HP cars had two lines: One for fuel to carb and a return line to the tank... All 375 HP cars had one 3/8" fuel line and no return line....

<font color="red">Red</font>line on tach should be 6000 rpm:

Also check the radiator tag (if present) found on the passenger side toward the engine and report back here for decipher (by people smarter than me).

http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Arrrggghhh! Sorry, my picture (previous post) is supposedly only 512 x 384 but looks huge to me. Now why is that? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Good clues here, but that's all they are is clues. Don't pay 375hp car price without legit paperwork http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

That being said, what would a solid 69 chevelle ss L78 project with no motor be worth with only clues for documents? Price difference if car has buildsheet? thanks

Colors? Options? Bench? Buckets?
Are there any parts missing besides the Motor and Trans?
If it has Power steering, is the deep grove pulley there?
Someone on here I am sure has the correct part #.
Are there spring tags on the front or rear springs? Look on the front spring coils and see if there is a tag... it may be near the bottom of the coils. If you can find a spring tag we may have a better idea, some springs were L78 specific.
