I'm sure many of you saw last week that Iowa city was hit pretty hard by a tornado. Prior to Iowa city being hit Anamosa got hit very hard, including Carl's place. I found out through a conversation with John Jensen, so I called to see how he was doing, and if he needed any help. His buildings were hit pretty hard, but there was only minimal damage to some of the cars. Thankfully he, and Shelby were not hurt.
While he seems to have things under control, I think he might like to hear some words of encouragement.
Maybe if you have a moment, give him a hollar just to say hi, and we're glad you're all safe. Schonye

Very unnfortunate. Seems the people in the central US are really getting nailed this year by tornadoes. If we can help, let us know. Maybe someone in Iowa/Nebraska/Tenn, etc can list places to help similar to what Ann did in Springfield. Rough start to a summer for a lot of people.

I talked to JD and Nancy last week and they said everything went North of them so they're OK too.
Sorry to hear about Carl's place but happy to hear he and Shelby escaped injury. Carl called a few weeks back to ask about the Monmouth/LaHarpe show but we only made contact through our answering machines. I'll retrieve his number and try to check in with him tonight.
I heard on TV Sunday that the average number of Tornadoes for this time of year was 139. To date in 2006 we've had 280. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif
So Schonye, did you have any damage in your area? Just wondering if the Screendoor Repair business has you swamped. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
BTW, Thanks for letting us know about Carl. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

No damage here. We were under a tornado warning, and the fire dept sent out spotters but luckily the storm went around us. No screendoors to repair, but I may have to babysit the rollerderby queens tomorrow.

I thought about asking if it was the infamous 'Strawberry Tree', but figured that would be in bad taste. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif
Seriously: I hope everyone is safe. Sounds like we're not out of the woods yet!

Hey Kim you need to make a bat out of the tree like in the movie "The Natural".... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif Its been a bad year for storms in the Mid West, but thank God the loss of life is minimal compared to how many storms we have had...

Hey Howie, is that trailer purple?

I watched the tree fall. I was mowing the yard and my wife was working on her flower beds. She came running over to me telling me the tree was cracking. And by the time I got there there was a split in it. With in 6 mins. it was on the ground. The tree missed everything including the purple trailer. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

Kim,
Glad to see no one or nothing got hurt. That tree has got to be about as old as you http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif,
Also good to know that the Captain and his family are OK.

Captian Carl...good to hear your ship didn't sink and all the cargo is OK...hopefully the weather in the midwest will smooth out now... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif
Glad to hear both Carl and Shelby are okay. We have been getting some severe thunderstorms here in Central Iowa but have been lucky so far and haven't had either a lot of straight line wind or tornado's.
Have seen the video clips on the T.V. for the Iowa City area. It's a mess. Luckily no one was killed in Iowa City when the twister hit there ! ! !
Just had a short visit with Capt. Carl. No one was hurt, and no major damage to the cars. Said the storm took the roof off of his shop, scattering insulation in all directions. The '02 took the hardest lick, with a few dings in the rear quarter. A few of the others will need a little touch up paint work and new stripes. He said before long all of the cars will be back to pristine condition.
Carl said "thanks" to everyone who has called to check on them, and to be sure and insure your cars.
