I saw this yesterday and figured others might be interested in viewing. Special paint Z28 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/701-2-Chevrolet-Camaro-RS-Z28-LT1-350-360hp-4spd_W0QQitemZ4633851414QQcategoryZ6161QQrdZ1QQcmd ZViewItem) I have never seen a special paint second generation camaro before. Looks to be all there. Owner needs to look for build sheet and amend add to include special paint color ordered.

I have seen a special paint 70 Z. Was owned by a member here. This was years ago. Be interesting to see what the cowl is sprayed. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif

Very interesting car indeed. Just about every color was available in 1970 except for black and most special paint cars I have seen were painted that color.
Notice the trim tag is missing the stripe color code as well. Very cool.
Since it's a Norwood car I highly doubt he will find a build sheet in the car. This would be the one to do a previous owner trace on to see if any of them have the paperwork for the car.
Somebody obviously repainted and added a few things to the car. The Z/28 emblem in the grill is wrong. It's a Rally Sport so no emblem should be there.
I wish I didn't have a driveway full of cars, I would jump on this one.

Would stripe delete give you the - - paint code? Then it might be a normal color like the one it is.

I had a special paint code '70 rs z, originally black with custom black/white cloth interior 4 speed. It was an 02B built Norwood car. Unfortunately after 12 owners most of the original parts including drivetrain were long gone. It would be a good car to build and drive today. Back in the mid '90's they were'nt worth restoring without original drivetrains. Original '70 z's were still under $ 10,000.

Guys, Lets hear your opinions about WHAT COLOR you would paint car and then if with NO stripes as Trim Tag suggests.
Other than Black what G.M. Color comes to mind.....would it possibly be one the Corvette colors or Cadillac?????

Take a peek in the trunk. This one also appears to have the RPO-C50 rear window defrost.

What I find interesting is that every special paint car mentioned has been black. The one at Carlisle last year was also black. Has anyone seen a documented special paint other then black? The only ones I have seen have been black.
I wish I was closer because I would love to go over this car.

Rick H, Jack Seymour and I have been talking about the 4,000 mile Black 70 Z. Displayed and awarded with VINTAGE at 2005 Carlisle it is owned by Marty Wright. We have many pictures including window sticker and POP. We didi not take pic of trim tag to see what was after Z.28 as car has white stripes. Did you take noticeof this.
We are trying establish if this EBAY Camaro above is stripe delete on top of special paint.
Marty Wrights - - Black car is only one Ive seen that has window sticker showing special paint option and price

There's a bit of knowledge to be gleaned from this article on the Special Paint process and how it worked from inside GM. . Notes no Cadillac colors....are some cars known to have been shipped in these? . The Mopar color mentioned is a surprise too....does anyone know more on this?
http://www.chevellestuff.com/tech/paintinfo2.htm
Has anyone looked at it or has it been determined what color is this eBay car was yet? . Seems strange the seller has no idea also seems to have avoided pics of areas that could help? .
Were any cars known to have been shipped in primer only and would they be -- also or noted 'PRIME' on the tag like I think some Vettes were? .

Pete,
There was an article several years ago printed in the Nova Times (NNN club magazine) regarding a 1970 Nova painted the Mopar "Plum Crazy" purple. I remember it being a 396 car, but not certain if it was an L-78 or not. Interesting car all the same.

Corvettes in the 1968-1972 range were delivered with PRIM or SPEC paint codes in a few cases. The cars delivered in primer are interesting... I know of one 1971 ZR-2 car currently being restored that was delivered this way. I've seen a feew special paint Corvettes as well... Mostly Chevrolet colors offered on other lines, but I would imagine that non-Chevrolet colors would be possible with the right connections. Word is that there was a run of approximately 25 black Corvettes in 1972 (black was not an available color)... Not sure what the tags on those cars read, but I'm in the process of finding out.
I still have a SPEC tag taken from a 1976 Corvette painted in Bright Green Metallic that was available on the 1975 Corvette.

Great info Stan....thanks for sharing! . Love to see more on the Plum Crazy Nova if anyone has anything! .
I'm always interested in the paint topic as my '67 Biscayne 2Dr Post is a special paint car and has FC and a few numerical digits in the paint code location of the tag. . I've never made any sense of it yet and wonder if it's really to note paint or something else to do w/ the special order as it's a RCMP Ghost car and the lower area of the tag is stamped 'RED TAG RCMP'. . My GM Canada documents does confirm the special paint but no more.
Wow on the ZR2 'Vette....these are the LS6 w/ off-road option right? . Is it an Owens-Corning car or something w/ a known race history? . As a kid I grew up down the road from the Mosport track so got to see a some of these up close....they were sure the best of times!!!

Chuck,
I never got a close up look at the trim tag. Darn it! I won't let that happen again.
Didn't he or was it someone else that also had the buildsheet? I remember looking at the buildsheet with the dashes and special paint written on it.
Hopefully this year I can get some 70 trim tag pictures at Carlisle. I'll be judging Bowtie again this year but want to get over to the Vintage area to go over a few second gen Camaros.

Rick, I'll post here pics of Marty W's window sticker showing special paint. As you know Norwood 70 Camaros did not ship with build sheets.......
I'll go to my grave, knowing I that this car was mine, but didnt pull the trigger, due to what I perceived, was a high price at that time.......plus location, etc.............sigh!!!!!!!!

I know that feeling well Chuck, I am kicking myself for passing up a car I could have had for $32,000 7 months ago,
It recently was resold for $65,000. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

So special paint or stripe delete doesn't actually tell the color or anything on the window sticker.

Of the special paint cars I have seen with buildsheets, the color was hand written on the buildsheet as was the wording "special paint" or special" or "color".
If you notice the car Scott posted it looks black (has a blue tint on my screen). I have not seen anything but black on 1970 special paint Camaros.
