Wow cool....4L and all! . http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Can-I-Have-It.gif

Since 'cousin' was the original owner and the seller says he purchased it from him, any new owner would end up being the third owner....unless seller is just the middleman and paperwork rolls from orig. owner 'cousin'??? .

Wonder what the reserve is? .

Hey Zedder....you know this car? .

Don't want to be nit picky, but I can't believe he drilled the fenders and put Z/28 emblems on it. Still, quite a find. Maybe I am just jealous.

Really cool car!, I hope the seller gets what he is asking and this piece of chevrolet history goes to a great home.

That looks like the car that was on camaro.net a few months ago.

Yeah Pete, I know the car and met the "cousin" a few years ago at a show in New York...he is a very nice guy and absolutley loved that car the entire time that he owned it. It was in a number of mags in the '90's and is a really nice car, but not a number one car as you can see. The seller and I spoke when the car was on Team Camaro a few months ago and he wanted $150K for it http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

It was very nice. Picked a 1970 V Code 440/6 pack Super Bee. Just got back from inspecting the '67 Z28. Nice car real deal. My boss bought the car!

Trim tag looks to be a reproduction.http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Better check that out closely.

Glue in rivets too???

I know that the car is real, but what happened to the original tag?

You're right. The seller disclosed it up front. He has the original tag and I saw it in person. The tag was damaged by the paint and body shop during a partial resto several years ago.

I hate ask but is there car really worth $150K? I know it's very rare and would appreciate your opinions.

Since your boss bought it, I guess it's worth whatever he wound up paying for it http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Look at it this way - 69 Z28's routinely sell for $80 - $100K any more, and look how many of them were made vs. 602 67's http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

600 is a low production number, but didnt these cars run like low 15's when new?

Andy, the '67 Z/28 was not intended to be a drag car; it was built to comply with homologation rules for the SCCA TransAm series (closed-circuit road racing). Once multiple carburetion was permitted for the 1968 race year, the Roger Penske/Mark Donohue team won the series for both 1968 & 1969. Incidentally, these cars can be made to run in the 12's.

In Car and Driver March 1967, a 67 Z28 turned 14.9 in the quarter mile in stock trim. Results shown below:

Car and Driver October 1996 reran the tests using Jerry MacNeish's freshly restored stock 1967 Z28, this time comparing it to a new '96. Results were the same as 19 years earlier. Click on the thumbnail below to read the whole article:

Long story ..... guy wanted to be paid in part cash, several money orders and teo two different people. During this time, I contacted Jerry McNeish and a couple of experts and the general consensus was that $150K was way too much for this car. For whatever the reason, the price just jumped up $15K.

Seriously looking to buy a '67 Z28 though.

How many would you like? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Seriously, send me an email with what your boss is looking for and I might be able to help. There are a couple of cars that are coming available soon (and no, not my Black car Jonesy http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif )

Bill with all due respect 69 Z's do not routinely sell for 80 -100k. You mean more like 40-50k. Regards, SG

Danny, I sent you an email yesterday...2 '67 Z's have become available one red and one black (neither are mine BTW). If you aren't interested, please let me know and I'll offer them to others that are looking.
