I was having a problem with whistling coming from my carb while driving the Chevelle. I PM'ed Eric Jackson ( Vintage Musclecar (http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showprofile.php?Cat=0&User=1136&page=2&what=showme mbers) on this site) and explained to him what I was experiencing. He told me what was most likely wrong with the carb...and so when I had to go to Las Vegas last weekend...I decided to pull the carb and send it to him for a rebuild and restoration.
It turns out that the throttle shaft bushings were almost gone...and the baseplate was warped. Either and/or both could have caused the problem that I was experiencing.
Anyways, here are 3 shots of the carb as I was taking it off to send to Eric.

Looks great! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif I think I better box mine up and get it taken care of. It needs to get totally restored.

Well, now it's too nice to put back on the car and actually have fuel going through it http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Can't you just get a "driver" carb and have the resored one on display in your living room somewhere?

I finally got the carb on the car and ready to go. I had to bypass the heater core for the time being...it decided to spring a leak in the interior on my first road test http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Eric is an awesome guy...he is the epitome of customer service http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
Here's what it looks like installed on the car

Eric just did a 4557 for me. What I got back was exactly what I expected and what I paid for. What really impressed me was how Eric dealt with a problem. Seems our illustrious shipper damaged the throttle linkage. Eric has spent countless time making sure everything is ok on my end offering to do whatever it takes to make it right. Furtunatley I think I can repair it on my own. At least he is not like most people that once they have collected the check, they have no after sales technique. Thanks for your professional service Eric! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Thanks once again for the kind words Rick, they are greatly appreciated.
I know you told me not to worry about it, but I still have a knot in my stomach about that bent linkage. Again, if need be I'll take care of it.
Food for thought: I should've known better than to entrust such valuable parcel to a company who's name sounded out phonically is "OOPS"! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

Rick, Eric did the same for me. I had a small problem...and it was eating him up inside. We got it worked out in a hurry though. What a guy! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
