I was surfing through "the bay" today and came across a '67
L-88 intake that had the last four part numbers ground off
and then other numbers hand stamped in their place.

I had always thought that these were rare items and
represented only the first few intakes of a particular
design. As of late, I have seen way too many of these
hand stamped intakes on eBay. What gives? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Are these all real, or just unscrupulous sellers trying
to cash in on the whole L-88/ZL-1/yada-yada-yada thing? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

I sold one on Ebay last week. It was a 3933198 intake that was original. The 98 was hand stamped. The intake looked like it had been at the bottom of a lake when I got it and was certainly original.

Does anyone have any sense of how long into the production
year ( or cycle ) these restampings occurred? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif
