Does anyone know the date of the 1970 Long Lead press preview was held at Riverside. I'm pretty sure that the 1970 Camaro was introduced at that event.
Any information would be appreciated.
Regards,
Stan Falenski

Thanks guys... I appreciate the feedback.
The dates that you guys listed appear to be the official release dates to the general public.
There was a "pre-release" introduction to the automotive press for the 1970 Camaro (and perhaps 1970 Corvette) sometime in the fall/winter of 1969 at Riverside. I have photos of the 1970 Camaro taking some laps there, but I don't have a date to put to the photos. I'd really like to find out when this Riverside dog and pony show took place.
Any thoughts on that one?

Stan

Stan, is this the session where they had the mule ZL1 RS Camaro and the Proto-type LT1 Nova?

Marlin,
Yes... Pretty sure that is the one.
May have had some other cars there too.

I think I have a copy of it somewhere, I mainly focus on the page that has the LT1 Prototype Nova. I will search for the rest of it. I recall that it had Chevelles, Monte's, Vette's etc....
After digging through my literature,I believe the original 1970 Long Lead Press Preview was held sometime in mid August,1969.Editors also make this implication in some of the car mags from that same time.

If these are the same pictures you have,of the 1970 Z/28,I believe they were taken at Riverside,Calif. in early January 1970.There is also a red/Black striped car tested later on.The plates show 12M500 1969 Michigan, but this was the track they tested it at due to the Midwest winter at that time.

NOS 1970 Pre-Announcement Window trim.
There was actually MANY pieces to this kit.
It consisted of 4-Sept 18th posters.

3 piece matching color Announcement strips.

As well as a Flamboyant trim poster.

All these were rolled up in the original shipping carton to the waiting Dealership here in Illinois.

Rick,
Yes, the test at Riverside is the one that I am refering to.
You are also correct that the reason that it was held at Riverside was that it was "winter" back east... Although I don't know what the actual date was.
What makes you believe that this was held in January rather than, say, November or December?
I appreciate the follow up... Thanks for your interest.

Stan

Wow, what a day in Chevy history that was! .
Love the ZL-1 identification on the Camaro also see how the text notes Duntov was busy w/ 2 alloy powered 'Vettes and refers to them as ZR-1's. .
And is that a production Copo Nova....maybe a third car that didn't go to Yenko? .
Great stuff! .

The prototype LT1 Nova appears to be a '69, neat car http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
