Very nice. Good docs too. Surprised it hasn't gone higher with so little time left. I need educated. Weren't all cars required to have head restraints for the '69 model year?
Pre January 1969 Built vehicles could get Head Restraint Delete.
For 1969,only 774 Chevelles were built without them as well as 4432 Impalas too.
A $16.90 credit,known as RPO AR-1 Less Head Restraint.
After January 1st,all vehicles were mandated to have them.

Picture clearly shows headrests. Looks like a very cool car. I would think the price will jump at the end with the crazy prices I have been seeing lately?

My point wrt headrests is, that according to seller the Sales Invoice has head restraints as an OPTION for $16.90. So, was this was an extra cost item early in the year?

Sam, Sorry, I understand now. I thought maybe you didn't think it had them as they are raised up in the picture. Not sure if it was a credit of $16.90 as mr70 indicated or a $16.90 option as seller stated. I bet there are some members here who know though and hopefully will chime in.. Dana
I believe that it was a "manditory" option on all 1969 vehicles.

Some other statements he makes seem wrong. Shows power disc brake option $64.25 even though it is standard on a Z28? Says "perfect original shifter knob" even though it is white and should be black?

No N33 wheel either. Not trying to pick pepper out of fly dung with it as the guy has it listed very straightforward IMO.
Cool car,bit of an odd order with RS and without D55 or U16.Love the early spoiler flat hood Z's-just not in Garnet.

I like that car alot. It seems every Z I see these days has a console with gauges and a cowl hood. It is nice to see one with a flat hood and no console. I am actually at the point where I personally prefer it.

Question. I was comparing the enginepad partial VIN stamping to the transmission stamping and for the most part it looks good. For example, the impression of the partial 5 (lower half only) shows up on both. However, the first "1" though is placed differently between the two (higher in the tranny stamping). Was it possible for the ganged stamp to partially rotate to accoount for this?

The z28 option was a 400 some odd dollar engine option. When you selected this several more options, like power front disc barkes, 4 speed transmission, 12 bolt axle, HD suspension, etc. was added to the base 12437 coupe price tag. You paid for each of the mandatory options separate from the Z28 option. That 400 dollars only got you the 302 engine. Then you could add other options, like the center console, U17 gauges, spoiler ZL2 hood, posi, etc to the car, again paying for each item.
It was the same way with an SS. Selecting the Z27 SS option got you an L48 engine, from there you could pay a little more for an L35, L34, L78 or L89 (OK alot more for the last 2)

The RPO Z28 included more than just the engine, such as the suspension and 12 bolt rear. The rpo z28 price increased as items were added such as chrome tail pipes and spoilers. The price increased from an introductory price of $458 to $ 502 if memory serves me.
As stated there were mandatory items such as power disc brakes and a 4spd trans that were added to the z28's base selling price. Yes even positraction was an option. The z28 option actually cost more than 9561 copo option.

Chrome tail pipe tips and spoilers weren't added until Mid 1969, and they did increase the price of the Z28 package to account for them. Originally the option was just an engine, which required several mandatory, and extra cost items.
The Z28 option went thru several iterations in 69 each time adding or deleting other options, such as deleting the NC8 chambered exhaust and replacing it with the N10 exhaust in November of 68. There was a price reduction associated with that change. But it always required other "mandatory" options to be added to the package.

Note: These are used for comparison. There are many documented cars which do not fall into these guidelines. Anything could have happened on the assembly line.
Other changes occurred in the '69 model year. Early '69 Z/28s used a Y55 top post battery, but Chevy went to a side post Y77 in February. A few months later this was replaced by the Y89, which used the same bolt size for the positive and negative terminals.
The Z/28 got single piston calipers on the disc brakes, as opposed to the four piston calipers in '67 and '68. You could also order the factory 4 wheel disc brake systerm, RPO JL8, but there were problems with parts availability during the year, and there were several stop orders issued, delaying delivery of the cars.
The console and guages were the same as used in 1968, but the woodgrain pattern was different. In 1969 rosewood replaced walnut on all the woodgrain accents.
The stripes were larger on the rear deck in '69 than on previous years. You could also order your Z/28 with the stripes deleted.
