When you sell a product and you have to put a dis-claimer at the end of your sales pitch it almost seems to be an admission of guilt.

I don't think it would be an easy thing to do.
Idea number 1:
Keep track of his PRIVATE auction winners from his feedback section and see if any of them use his documents as proof of a cars history to sell a car on ebay. Bust a few of them for fraud and maybe put a crimp in his business if he got drug into court a few times.
Idea number 2:
Not legal and can't be listed for public viewing. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif Anyone up north know what I mean, spring thaw and the rivers are fast making things hard to find? LOL
To be serious, no matter how good he is a fake document can be detected.
1)Ink compositions are different and the text will exhibit different characteristics if printed with modern ink.
(Problem would be if he is using a 40 year old typewriter that still had a good ribbon)
2)Paper fiber composition is differnt now due to use of recycled paper. Recycled fibers behave differently the second time around due to the second bleaching/cleaning process. Atypical fibers in the "aged" areas could be a clue to a faked document.
3)If he is making them with an inkjet printer, that can be spotted under magnification. The type will have a tiny spatter pattern around each letter that the original imprint type would not. I think this can be seen with a 50X or 100X loupe.
4)If you want to be 100% certain about a car you are going to buy, clause the deal with an authenticity writer.
Find a local test lab, such as A-Labs, and have a nondestructive age test done on the docs. Most often it would be a light or vapor/gas test of the ink or paper. Based on other testing that A-Labs has done for me in the past, I would guess the fee would be less than $500.
I will never look at a cars documentation the same trusting way again. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif
OK I'll climb down off the soapbox now.
But as the saying goes
"If it sounds too good to be true, it is"
or something along those lines.

11 "Anonymous" readers on this one now.
I wonder if he is one of them????

The documents he has shown may in fact be originals. I would like to see if he can duplicate the ones shown. Also the points you make are valid. There are usually mistakes made that can identify fraudulent documentation.

ok, someone ID this guy and post up who it is, anomonymously of course and let the net black ball him all over the boards...sounds a little harsh but this is really wrong.

Easiest way to find him, would be hit the buy-it-now on his "aged" tank sticker, then get his info for the money order.
The payment will get lost in the mail, of course. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Then you have his name and address.

In the latest Hemmings Muscle Machine issue, a scammer got caught making a hemi cuda out of a 383 car. He had VIN tags and Galen documentation made up. He faces a long jail time. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

This seems to me also to be totally wrong and exclusively designed for the use of misleading any future buyers of these cars. This is purely a deceptive practice and fraud in my opinion. His disclaimer "NOTE : THESE DOCUMENTS ARE MADE WITH THE INTENT OF PERSONAL DISPLAY AND NOVELTY USE ONLY AND NOT INTENDED FOR RESELLING OF CARS" is as transparent as air. Scammer pure and simple. Wonder if someone will try documenting a Canadian shipped or built car and then try and sell a clone as the Real McCoy? Maybe the GM Pontiac division in the US who have their VIN records like GM Canada should talk to the other US divisions and see if all the other VIN's still exist and if so, bring them out to protect today's and previous buyers. If that happened the courts would be backed up for years. It sure would bring down the price of the fakes that are pretending to be real. This stuff just makes me puke http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif.

Like I said in the previous thread on this guy, he is the Lex Luthor of the Chevy world! . His disclaimer is hard to dispute....like a gun shop can sell the guns and bullets but it's the person using them that's in trouble? . He's very detailed even buying specific paper in past auctions....I wouldn't be surprised if he's reading all we say now too? . PM's would be best if someone sees anything he's doing incorrectly so he can continue the same way. .
Somehow lets get his real name posted and go from there. . Prototype is in Calgary too....Fred do you know who Lex really is? .
Mark, I've read before that the US Vin shipping invoices are supposed to be in paper format filling a bunch of train boxcars somewhere? . Existing isn't enough as even if it's true there's a few lifetimes of labour going through it to organize in a format that would make looking up cars by Vin or ship dates a possibility? . Personally I think they're on microfishe somewhere too but so far nothing? .

There is nothing wrong with someone owning a gun... when you use it for unlawful purposes then you have a problem.
Also not illegal to have "aged" non-authentic docs. however it is illegal to use it to pass off a fake car.
The problem lies in that guns have many legitimate uses and fake docs have 2...
1. To make your real car look neat at a car show.
2. To pass off fakes.
He should only supply them with docs... let everyone age the docs themselves.

I wasn't saying I agree....only the stating the kind of argument that's sure to come out hence the ? at the end. .
He shouldn't supply anyone with the docs 'un-aged' or not. . Isn't it really the same thing....deception? .
