Is this the one that was at russo & steele? Notice the Firestone tires http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Not trying to pick, but don't you think for that kind of money they could have put a silver grille on it? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Im not trying to pick either but why does it always seem like everybody picks on this car everytime it comes up for sale? We have all seen the questionable ones do big money at auctions and this car seems to me at least to be the only one out there with any docs proving it had the crossram since new. I think its different and sets itself apart from the rest. JMO

It's such a beautiful car, with great history and paperwork. I wonder why it keeps going from buyer to buyer. Is it haunted? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

I think the toughest thing about this car is that color. The documents are great and the car has brought good money but that color and the extended stripes make it a tough sell.

See I beg to differ. I think thats what sets it aside from the rest. There are plenty of orange and red and blue and green zee's running around but you just know this car is special as soon as you set your eyes on it.

Trouble is, every guy with a wad of cash in his pocket wants a red, blue, green one (or yellow, orange, silver, black). I'd take this baby blue car in a second if I had a wad of cash in my pocket. Okay, wads and wads of cash in all four pockets!

Yeah, this car got picked to death last time it was up for sale. At least I assume it was the last time. I really don't understand the black grill. Still a very nice car, and it really helps that it is featured in Jerry Mm's book.

Personally, I am not that in to any cross ram car. I don't know why having the dealer installed cross ram makes it that much more valuable than one with a cross ram added 2 years later, 10 years later or 20 years later. Not saying that it doesn't, just don't understand why. Not trying to offend anyone, just my 02 cents. Besides, have you ever tried tuning one of those things and keeping it running on the street? The TI ignition will help, but still.... what a pain in the butt.

There is another special paint baby blue 69 out there, a convertible with a white top and white vinyl interior, also has - - paint code.

What was the general consensus on the extended stripes on tailpan? I seem to recall another board member listing a 69 Z unrestored with extended stripes. Was this a dealer added item? Please educate the rest. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

Good memory. I personally took over 50 pictures of this car. I could NOT find any evidence that the extended stripes were added later. I am hoping that the person who bought it is restoring it the way it was found.

It appears that this NC blue X-ram has been sold to a dealer in Columbia City, IN. Stay tuned...it is bound to pop up again.

I know I have posted this picture before but my father took this photo in 1969. Except for the shackles the car seems to be bone stock. I would be surprised if the orig owner had the stripes extended before he even swapped the original ralleys and tires as was so common to do at that time.

One thing that stands out to me on those stripes is that all 3 are in the same place. All most exactly. 3 different people in 3 different parts of the country ain't gonna get em that close without a template. Either somebody was selling a stripe extender template, or they came that way new. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I just noticed the headlight washer tube is broken on the blue xram. All that money spent and they didn't fix that. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It would be interesting to see if those extended stripes are actually painted up inside the rear taillight mount lip on the 69's. In order to paint them like that the taillights and bumper would need to be removed whereas the factory wouldn't have installed them yet and it would be easy to paint extended stripes. It makes me think it's some form of "special paint" and those cars would have the -- paint code.

Are there any surviving original paint 1969 Camaros still around with stripes like that today, that someone could get close to and answer that specific question?

I can't belive that that didn't occur to me. I was comparing all the pics to see how the stripes matched up. I must have been from IA in a past life.

Didn't a lot of dealers extend the stripes off the spoiler and down to the tail light bezel? I'm sure some ran them all the way down. That,or some guys having friday fun on the line.

Schonyenko2

That's true. Someone could have just extended them. Notice on the one Frank posted, and the one for sale that they are dead on. Even in the license plate area. The left is closer to the center than the right side. Usually if you free hand something like that, you'll try to even it out. That's what makes me think it's a stencil.
Maybe GM's got the answer hid with the L 89 novas, rocker curtains on 68 novas, and a lot of other stuff we just guess about. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
