My mind must have left me. Can anyone help me find the thread on the need for oils w/zinc (race oil)? Or did I see it elsewhere? Help.
Rich

Thanx, Rick. I was starting to wonder if this thread was real or something I created in 'dreamland'. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
IMHO that CI rated oil for diesel engines are actaully better for vintage motors. This is due to the additive package which has larger doses of ZDDP.

Comp Cams has issued a statement to use Rotella during break in time... I guess we will just have to continue to use diesel oil in the future... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

I replaced the Castrol GTX in all my cars with the Rotella 15w40. Now I can buy it by the case when I change the oil in my diesel Suburban.

Love the Rotella - I use it in my race MX bikes and my solid lifter cars with no valvetrain failures to date - and it is reasonably priced. Buy it by the jug at Wal-Mart http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
