Here some photos from the Englishtown FAST car show and drag race. I brought out the hemi Charger and made a couple passes. Unfortunately, I'm not legal for the stock or FAST class due to the dealer installed headers and rims and I had to run in the modifed class with everthing under the sun. First run was an "up in smoke" 14.20 @ 101 mph. Two hours later (after some guy in a Comet oiled down the track) I made a second run and just idled it out of the lights and eased it into second gear and stomped on it in 3rd. It ran a 13.80 @ 105 mph. Not bad for street radials and a rolling weight of 4302 pounds. At least I beat the Buick GS I was racing. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And here's the rubber to prove it:

It's kinda sad that the majority of the people looking at the cars there wanted to know what a particular car is worth before they ask anything else about it. My how times have changed.

BBBenny's 69 COPO, Cortez Silver with blue interior. Beautiful car, even if he wouldn't run me.

Maroon 69 SS 396 Camaro on the left, racing a Yenko(?). I wish I had the concession on Yenko decals today: I would have made a fortune. There seemed to be an inordinate amount of Yenko stripes on all sorts of cars.

And what muscle car event would be complete without an original 1970? LAPD AMC Matador Adam 12 replica. It ran a 17.50. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Go right ahead. Any shots of me racing? I'd love to know what color the smoke was coming out my exhaust pipes! She seemed to like the 108 octane VP I put in yesterday. Very smooth running. I love the factory tachs. Slightly innacurate. I'd shift whenever the needle would pass 8000 rpm. It's off by 1800 rpm. I hate doing math while I'm racing. It hurts my brain.

Awesome! Great photo. The Buick was running DOT slicks and I cut a good light: .139 to his .750. He ran a 13.40 but I got there first with a 13.80. I love how Mopars launch, they hop up on their haunchs instead of power squatting like GM cars do. The Super Stock rear springs help too (Gotta thank the original owner for installing them.)

They ran Ultra Quik 8, muscle car bracket, modern muscle, hot rod, gear jammer and F.A.S.T. I will try and post some more pics of the races tommorow after I get a chance to resize them. There were some realy good races overall and it was nice to get out and watch in person for once even if it was only 2 hours of it. Some of the cars were inching pretty close to the 6 second mark, one time was I believe 7.097.

Steve, I'm pretty sure the Trans-Am RAV III was my freind Steve K. I have not got a chance to see it in person, but I restored the belts for his car http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif He told me after he did not run it for insurance reasons. He took 1st in the TA NATS last year with that car. I have to talk to him about the TA RAV IV. Wish I could have made it, maybe next year. Nice pics, Thanks!

They sure have some bizarre sponsors at Englishtown that's for sure. While waiting in the staging lanes I was just scratching my head at some of the billboards on the wall. Everything but Playtex Tampons were being advertised.
