As you know I am almost finnished restoring my balck on black m22 488 l78 68 Camaro. This car was verry early in its life taken to motion for a 427 Conversion. The owner ordered the car in Windsor Ontario.Raced the hell out of the car and he set the track record at the Detroit dragway in 10/5/69 10:45 for the standing Quarter mile.He was at the time working as a GM enjineering team that was developing the mark 4 enjine for nascar,I was aware of some the history of this car, however after digging and digging for further information from the previous owners
it became evident that this car was never beaten either on the street or on the track. The origional owner after a year
of gentle perswation gave me a copy of the certificate he won for the record at the Detroit drag strip.( he would not part with the origional and I dont blame him) He also gave me a news papper article that was printed in July of 1976 for the ST Thomas Dragway where he won He won King of the hill in the Bracket winners competition.I need not tell you how thankfull I am for letting me have the history of this car so that it will for ever remain documented with the car. The secod owner of the car I found him in the USA
called him up and he was amazed that the car was still alive
He told me stories about racing this car on the street and
on the track ,made alot of money racing the 427 camaro.
Almost got cought one night after racing a Hemi cuda for 100.per gear, won the race and as a result the car received a
permanent mark on the right rear quarter.
He also kept the time slips and has many pics fo the car at the track. I will be patient as he might one day send me some pics too. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
