Would the Vin of the car this tag was from be the 2 digits after the Vin of the car mentioned as body # 351471? .

Not necessarily. Body numbers were not in sequence with VIN numbers.

How about it's been on Ebay before, in 2002, and its from a cutup drag car. Came from Daytona in 2002, sold for 355. Engine block was on Ebay in March of 04 from the Boston area.

He's posted the Vin now as 661364 and great, let it be known. . No one's against the guy anyway and fair enough he's doing it all in the open and help with whatever happened to any one car. . Great reference too as the more documented real tags a fella can ever refer to the better! .

And great job is right Mark, do you know the result of the eBay engine auction? .
And the cutup car....is there a firewall floating around somewhere? . And what of the Vin tag itself....was it removed w/ the trim tag? .

The auction now shows the eBay Question/Answer....

Q: Hi, Is there anything else left of this car that you will be selling off?? Does the OTHER TAG go with the auction? Thanks,Tyson

A: The tag and known VIN# is all I have as well as the car history as being a cut up drag car. I have a copy of the auction in which the original engine was listed on Ebay some time back so possibly you could track it down through seller/buyer.

- He's not saying it goes w/ the auction but is he indicating he has the tag or only knows what the Vin is/was? .

I think it's the same guy is selling it, has two different ebay id's, and is a member (or at least has posted in the past) on this site.

The ad says no vin numbers on the block? Or is there one by the oil filter and he is not mentioning that?

If there were a number by the filter Chuck would have mentioned it. He sells engine and drivetrain parts mostly. I don't believe he would try to sell a trim tag.

They are not the same seller. He is not selling under two Ebay ID's.

This thread would have people new to the site/hobby thinking there is such a thing as a COPO body tag, as there are Z/28 and SS tags.

There is no COPO body tag. The auction involves a body tag alleged to have been removed from a COPO Camaro. There is nothing on any body tag that would directly indicate the car is a COPO.

Wouldn't X44D80 would indicate the car is a COPO?

X44 D80 only indicates the car was a base car with air spoiler equippment. Not in any way a COPO. But many times the body sequence number will group COPO's together. But an X44 body with big block heater box and other COPO signs would indicate it was a COPO since the X44 big block cars are 427 only, not 396...Confused enough...BKH

My mistake, read my notes wrong, thought the buyer of the tag also picked up the motor, but he didn't it was two separate buyers.

This motor on ebay has the same casting date, and assembly code as the previous one, except the old auction was only the block and one head (same date on the single head).

Maybe not a COPO, but an base car with spoiler equiptment would probably be just as rare.....

William,
Body number 351473 is within a group of Canadian imported Copo Camaros. There are a number other known Canadian sold Copo Camaros with body numbers from 351458-351478. Its nice to know we have the vin on this destroyed car.

I know this is an old thread but I am interested in finding the engine and any other components for N661364. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
