Well, I'm a good friend with Jim Hughes (NWYENKO) and have been into Chevy II's forever. My previous ride was a 67 Nova SS 327-275hp, 4-spd Black on Black and documented from GM of Canada as the Last one off the Assembly Line June 16 1967.
I decided to do a Recreation , as Barrett-Jackson calls em , of a 66 Chevy II L79, 2dr post. I picked up a beauty 66 White/Red Interior, 6cyl auto with only 40,000 original miles. The heart of it all is an original ZI block (350hp 327, unique to Chevy II only ) The block is one of approx 180 shipped into Canada for the L79 optioned Chevy II's and Acadians Dart heads, SRP pistons, Crane cam & roller rockers, GM 490 intake and a new 3367 Holley... (same as the 3245 originally put on the Chevy II only) Dougs Ceramic coated headers, it makes about 400hp. The 100 series Chevy II did not offer a black interior in 66, so I had the door panels one off made by SMS in Portland Oregon. PUI just recently started making the sedan seat cover sets. It came with radio & cigarette lighter delete and I located the heater delete plates from a guy in Hawaii. NOS knee knocker tach & 4-spd bench seat shifter knob was a nice touch, as well, I installed the Chevelle type instrument gages made by Shiftworks (easy install & looks factory stock ) It's powered thru a Muncie M21. I had a 12 bolt made up using the center section from a 69 Chev and welded on my tubes. Eaton posi, Richmond 3:55 gears & Moser axels. The car is painted a stock Aztec Bronze & has all tinted glass. Steel wheels and dog dish caps complete the look.
A couple of Canadian differences for all Canadian built cars was the firewall painted body color & the trunk...no spatter paint The tail light bezels are chromed pot metal (not stamped Aluminum) I've also included a pic of Grumpy Jenkins in his early days... he ran 11:25 @ 122mph Also a pic of a documented 66 Acadian 2dr post, L79 with 3 on the tree & a Hard Top that was drag raced all it's life!
Thanx for taking the time to read and you guys have an excellent site and sound like a bunch of great guys There's also a pic of me in July 67 with my new 67 post and now with the Cloner..A fun pic.
