Hi Guys,

I just wanted to share some pictures I just took of my fleet of 427 "SUPERCAR" power. Pictured is a total of 854 CID of Chevrolet performance! I picked the 2006 Z06 up last week. This car seems like an animal even though I haven't really "did it" with her yet (only 70 miles and counting). But this thing is impressive. I can't wait to get past the break-in period! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Nice picture. Great cars. Maybe you have told your Yenko's story before, but I'd sure like to hear it. Any more pix?

I am originally from South Jersey and haven't moved the registration down here to FL yet. I'll be doing so sometime in the near future. To answer your question. The Z06 only has 70 miles on her, so still in break-in. This I can tell you... it runs. Most of the guys on the Vette site are running mid to high 11's in stock trim on street tires. A few are running 11.0's with DR's mounted. So you know it is strong. However so is the Yenko, of course!!!

Both are beautiful cars...great color choices! They really look good parked side by each. You're gonna love romping that Z06 between the stoplights http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif 11.92 ET in factory configuration at 5,100' density altitude is my best.

Here you go..

I want to first tell the story of my interest in cars was inspired by a ride in a Yenko Camaro in about 1975. I was about 13 or 14 and went to a Philadelphia Phillies game with my older brother (9 years older). We sat with a couple of motor heads (like all of us) and my brother had some beers (to many beers) with these guys. I was to young to drink but we all had a great time with these guys, they were nuts. During the game they keep talking about the one guy's Yenko in the parking lot at Veterans Stadium. Neither my brother or I knew what that was. After the game we went down to see this car and there was a Hugger Orange 69 Yenko 4 speed. We hung out for awhile and I then even had a beer with them (if only my parents knew). The guy who owned the car took me and my brother for a ride in this beast and did about 10 hole shots in the parking lot of the old Vet Stadium. I never forgot that ride. I was blown away by that car and always wanted one. Then when I learned this girl I was dating (who is now my wife) had an uncle who had the same kind of car I had to go for a ride in it. Her uncle owned a few speed shops around the Philadelphia area and was well connected in car circles. I was about 18 by now and took a ride in my second Yenko Camaro. This was a RG automatic car. I was cooked, I had to one day own one of these.

I bought and sold my way through a few Corvettes and had enough money to get my car when the opportunity presented itself.

Now for a little history on my current Yenko car. She was owned and driven daily for the first 2 years of it's life. Then the original owner got into dirt tracking and pulled the Yenko off the street and put the 427 into his "roundy rounder" dirt car. He used that 427 for a few seasons when his wife gave him grief over the racing thing.

Then in 1983 (?) my wife's uncle (by marriage) finds the car and purchases the car with the original engine on the stand just pulled from the dirt car. He already had the first Rally Green automatic Yenko and wanted a 4 speed. He freshened the engine and installed it. I was there for the first fireup and drove the car being the first guy to drive it since 1971. A few months later and a lot of negotiations, I owned the car. He eventually sold the Rally Green automatic to Cliff E.

The car is mostly original, with some touch-up paint work. The engine and rear are original but the transmission has been replaced with an M-22 (a real one) from 1969. Otherwise, all else is untouched and unrestored..

I have been very quite about this car for many years and for whatever reason after owning it for almost 25 years decided to share my story tonight!

I THINK A FRIEND OF MINE USE TO OWN YOUR CAR. HIS NAME IS CARL FRONK. HE SOLD IT TO DUNN AND GRASSO SPEED SHOP. THEN I THINK IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH SHAWS SPEED SHOP!I ALSO REMEMBER YOUR RAM AIR II CAR FROM DUNN AND GRASSO ALSO. I SEEN IT AT A CAR SHOW IN THE 80'S http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif I HAD HEARD THE STORY ABOUT THE UNCLE ALSO AND THOUGHT TO MYSELF "WHY CANT I FIND A GIRL LIKE THAT" http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Can-I-Have-It.gif THE YENKO THAT IS?

Very nice rides, I love the color combo on the Yenko, its the same color combo as the ex Randy Miller/Kevin Hand 69 Yenko Nova! You need to get that car to have a matching pair! I have seen some videos on streetfire.net and people street racing the 2006 ZO6 against Ford GT, Lambo Gallardo,Viper SRT/10, and a Ferrari F430, and have not seen one get our run yet, that has to be the best car in the world for the money! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

Hey Keith,
Glad the inspiration hit you to tell us your story. I'm sure the crew here appreciated it as much as I did. Terrific tale, cool history. I sure do like original cars. I for one would like to hear and see more. Charley, Bob, Tom, Rob, Jeff - not sure what the criteria is, but I would like to nominate this ride for "Supercar Feature".

And now thru careful calculations (boots removed) I have determined that you are of legal drinking age and would like to propose a beer toast to your Yenko! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif Long may she live!

First, let me thank everyone for all the kind words regarding both my Yenko and my new Z06. I am very proud and consider myself very lucky to own both.

To comment on some replies:

LVCAMARO: Great times from your Z06. Nice picture. They are truly SUPERCARS of today!

GTO DON: You are correct that you probably saw my Ram Air II GTO years ago at one of the Dunn & Grasso shows. I think I had it in every one of them. It was also featured in Car Craft, Hot Rod and High Performance Pontiac all in the 1980's. Also, Carl Fronk must have owned the automatic Yenko, not mine (the name is not familiar) and I have "A" title as the second owner. The automatic car was from Marshall Chevrolet, my 4 speed car came from Karen Chevrolet in Phillipsburg, NJ. If you know him I would love for you to ask him if it was a 4 speed or auto car. If it was a 4 speed I would love to talk to him. Maybe he owned it and never titled it?

MARLIN: Probably Muscle Car Magazine? The drag test at Englishtown between the automatic and 4 speed cars. One hot 95 degree day, old hard F70 tires bias ply tires and still 13:08 at 115 mph on first pass. I wish they let me get more passes in that day. I needed slicks.

JTH74: I am familiar with Kevin's Nova. I agree it would be nice to own both!

MOCKINGBIRD812 (SAM): Yes I am now old enough for some beers (and then some)! Thank you for the vote on a feature car.

That was then, this is now. That is why I purchased the Z06 so I don't need to worry about loosing $50,000 in value because I just missed a gear and blew a hole through the side of the block http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Don't get me wrong I'll still take it for a blast but at today's value I am carefull with it too. Sorry!

I know a couple of guys who bring their cars just for the show, and don't race them. Not racing your Yenko is perfectly understandable to me.

Thanks for understanding. Maybe one day I'll bring it there. I sold my triler when I moved from NJ to FL because we live in a golf course community that will not allow it. If I ever get one again I'll be sure to get there.

Very cool story Keith and indeed thanks for sharing! I wish more people would open up and tell their stories about these unique cars as well as others that they have stuffed in their garages.

Steve,
1000 hp! No "can I have it" comments. How about just, "can I have a ride in it????" http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
