What is the difference between the following voltage regulators? 1119506, 512,515, and 519. A single aftermarket solid state Transpo regulator covers all four. I was also told by an old time electrical guy that our Chevelle with the gauges takes a different regulator than the Chevelle with idiot lights. Any information here? The car has the 515 regulator and I don't recall having ever changed the unit.

Keith, Corvettes Camaros and Chevelles got the 515. I know the Camaro's with and without gauges all had 515's I believe Chevelles to be the same.

On Camaro.net there is a how to on installing the guts from the solid state in an original 515.
Pretty trick... looks totally stock.

Thanks guys. The old timer passed away last year and there was an auction to get rid of his inventory. There were over 20K spark plugs alone, many of which I hadn't even heard tell of. I picked up a box full of regulators and distributor caps. Had I been up on part numbers, I could have bought a lot of other stuff as well. A couple of years ago I was at his shop and bought some D112P HD points for the Chevelles. Hadn't seen any of these in years. There were two Sun distributor machines at the sale. One went for just over $400 and the deluxe one went for around $1700. Doug had done distributor and magneto work all his life and set up our distributors just the way we wanted. Great guy to have around and he is missed by us all. It's amazing at what is still squirrelled away in shops like his.
