Hey all you Z/28 guys out there!

Take a look at this gem I found on eBay. It is an auction
for a complete cross-ram hemi-head 302 engine. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Can-I-Have-It.gif

According to Jim Stubbins, it is only one of six known to
exist. What a piece of SHP history. Never really worked to
expectations so I heard.

p.s. See the auction link below the image.

Neat piece http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif Be the first on your block.....

Seeing as it's Heartbeat City selling it, I'm mildly surprised that the starting bid is not considerably higher http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I can't see anybody putting this into a car, who would risk starting it? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
One more mystery to ponder. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif

I seem to remember reading on here that Charlie Lillard owned one of these engines at one time.

Steve, that's just reality to me, but let me stir the pot here a little -- only for conversation --- We are now shown a Z-28 motor which according to the Add is one of only 6 known. Where are the car's that belonged to these motors ??? There were 69 ZL1 Camaro's produced and it still is not clear how many actual ZL1 engines are out there with all the Marine engines and Others?? produced. If you come across an engine that you can verify was actually in a ZL1 Camaro the value goes through the roof and everyone wants to know where the car is that it came from. Here we see a 90k motor that was reportedly in a 1969 Z28. If there were 6 1969 Z/28's produced with this engine, or as a dealer installed option I think we have a New BIG DOG in the Bow-tie neighborhood. My brother-inlaw recently told me back in 69 he purchased a new Camaro with two four barrel carbs that was badged as a Z-30. It was purchased from a dealer in PA, I'll have to clarify the name of the actual dealer --- could this be one of the same.

From the wording of the auction, I would almost bet they have another engine that is missing the crossram intake. "This is one of 6 engines known with the Crossram and all parts intact. Should you have an intake by itself I would sure like to hear from you."

Ok, I called my brother-inlaw to verify this. It was a 1970 Camaro that he purchased at Readman Chevrolet in PA that had a 350 Z/30 package for Transam racing. He says it had 2 four barrels. Car was stolen and destroyed shortly after he purchased it.

Yes I had a Z with one of those engines. No they never came in a Car. My understanding is this engine was in a Z28 but it was not in the Z28 from the factory. I think they traded out a experimental aluminum blocked smallblock so the Z28 still has a unique engine in it. Reggie Jackson has one of these engines sitting on his shop floor. He also had a running one in a Z28. There is also a 68 Z28 with one in it. There are a few. Mine was in a yellow RS Z28. It can be found in May 2003 Super Chevy.

If I am not mistaken this is the engine that was in the cortez silver car that was at Floyd Garrett's in TN. The actual car is at Rick's in Athens GA and Heartbeat city took the Iron Block in trade for the All Aluminum Hemi Headed 302. The Silver Car sans engine is shown on Rick's Website and the all AL is shown else where on the site... I believe that it says something about mating them up.

------Prior to all the above mentioned owners I think this car was in Al Maynards garage, as I saw a cortez silver Z there years ago with the mini-semi-hemi in it........Bill S

The yellow one in the above pic is the same one I had. That is Mick Price leaning over the carbs. The car was part of the Carl Dwiggins collection. Carl bought the engine at Smokey's auction and had Dave Tinnell restore the Z and install the engine.
