Looking for tech input on adjusting the "play" in the steering box on the 70 project Nova. Steering is definately loose and the front end parts are in good shape. I can move the wheel quite a bit before things start to happen. Checked my 70 service manual and it sounds pretty involved. A lot more than just loosening the jam nut and tightening the worm gear...though I have done that before http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Any help and advice would be appreciated. Other than that it runs liked "a raped ape".. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

Sounds to me like it's just plain 'wore out'. I wouldn't put any more money into that old car. Just sell it and be done. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

(BTW, I might be willing to take it off your hands... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif )

Junkyard truck came this morning and took it away...I was happy that scrap steel is bringing so much. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

Might have to go for a rebuild Tommy. But the worm nut is I think, the only thing visibly that you can do unles it is some other front end piece. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Tom,

Should have wrapped it around a tree, then set it on fire,
then put it on eBay as a survivor L/78. Big bucks ! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/stupid.gif

Tom... check your front shafts and then go for a steering alignment...
Also you might have a bent drag link... have your mechanic check the caster of both wheels..
try to get the caster to "positive degrees" on both wheels...
