This is one of 70 Stage 3 Roush Mustang convertibles built in 2001. Eight came in this color (mineral gray). I bought this car in March of 2006. Last fall my brother kept talking about how he wanted something fun to drive this spring. I started looking for him and pointed out various limited production modern muscle cars. Well he ended up with a Lincoln and I couldn't quite get out of my head a certain Roush Mustang I stumbled upon. It started eating at me like a tic on a dog and soon enough I HAD to have that car. The newest car I have ever owned is my pair of 90 Lumina's (daily drivers) so when I picked this beast up I was in for a real treat.
Here’s how I picked it up....
Easily the most interesting part of this story is the day I went to get this Roush. I had scheduled a flight to St. Louis (from Minneapolis) for the 10th of March. Good ole mother nature decided to dump a bunch of snow on the 9th which compromised when I would be making that 9am flight. I got a ride to the airport (I live an hour away) and we were on the road by 6:30am. 7:30, 8:30, ahhhahhhh I got to the airport at 8:52am the roads were S**T and took way longer than expected. According to my itinerary I was to get on my 9am flight, arrive in St. Louis (via a Chicago connection) at 1:30pm, check out the Roush and make my 10 hour commute home and have it in the garage by midnight
But the airline wouldn't let me on my flight. I rescheduled for 10:30am flight with a connection to St. Louis at 4pm, which would have me overnighting in St. Louis. Well, the pilots had the pedal to the metal and we got in to Chicago 10 minutes before my previous connection left to St. Louis. I scurried out of the plane and asked if I could make my previous connection to St. Louis. they said, Let’s have a look.., oh, its in wing A”. I said, “OK, where’s wing A?? They told me it was on the other side of the airport! I must of looked like the Road Runner as I blasted my way through O'Hare I'm surprised I wasn't tackled by some security workers. The airline held the flight for me and I was back on my scheduled flight. Ten hours later the Roush was home sweet home.
