I was sitting and talking to Tony one day and we were looking at the car and I asked him how in the heck that little Radiator could work in that combo.....Didn't make any sense to have that small of a cooling system...
I got an education that day.....and I still find this "Amazing".......He said he leaves the line with the water temp at about 120 degrees and after the run the water temp is about 130 max.....The Engines itself is a big Aluminum Heat Sink and just absorbs the heat, after the run they bring it back to the trailer, they have a big fan that blows on the engine to air cool it.....But what's equally amazing is that during the run down the track (with the car weighing 2400 lbs and running 6.40's@218 mph) it uses less than a gallon of racing gas........that includes the burnout and the run itself.........just think about that for a minute........

Ken, I was asking you because a freind of mine has known Mike & Tony for years...even as far back when Mike and his Nova met a pole or tree, I think in the early or late 70's.

The Gillig's are originally out of Arlington Heights. Tony's Dad, Bob is the long time owner of Wayne's Pizza in AH. Bob is a long time racer. He has won a NHRA event or two in the late 70's or early 80's in the Modified class. So it is in the genes to win. Tony was a candidate for the now vacant ride at Don Schumacher Racing a couple years back. Now that they dumped Shaun Carlson they should give Tony a real look
